Anyone else find Colin Murray extremely annoying? He seems so self satisfied and full of himself. It really spoils my enjoyment and I have to watch with the sound off!

I quite like him. So much better than Anne Robinson

I preferred Anne Robinson🤣.

Exactly the same. Colin Murray is too used to being a radio announcer and just bores me to death because he can't stop talking and making faces of false adulation and self-conceit. I turn the sound off too when he comes on but I stopped watching altogether when Anne Robinson was on.

I record it and then fast forward all his babbling. Yes, I do find him annoying. He treats Countdown as though it’s a horse race… I liked Les Dennis. To the point. Short and sweet.

I’m not his biggest fan but I found Anne Robinson completely unwatchable.

Twonewcats · 25/12/2022 01:20

Opposite. I think he's great. He's a superfan and his enthusiasm and rapport with Rachel and Susie is great after the tension that was Anne Robinson

The single most annoying presenter on TV really lessens enjoyment of this great show. His facial expressions, his gestures, his ego, his forever letting us know that he knows all the best words and numbers, his making himself the centrepiece of Countdown instead of the contestants who have been at its centre since Richard Whiteley days. Its still watchable if you can record, subtitle and silence sound. I'm certain that Colin is a really great and fun guy outside of this -- but bring back laid back Nick for this show PLEASE!!

It looks like we're in the minority here, then!

I think he's the best host they've ever had (sorry, Richard). As you say, he loves the game and he's completely genuine in his enjoyment; it's nothing like 'trying too hard for the camera'.

I also think he has real chemistry with Rachel, Susie and whoever the celeb is in Dictionary Corner every time, in a way that I can't remember any of the previous hosts really having.

FuckyDoodleDoo · 08/11/2023 18:06

I love him too. I find his obvious enthusiasm and love for the show engaging.

nopeasplease · 17/11/2023 07:22

Yeah i think he's great, wasn't sure at first but the more I've watched the more his presenting style has grown on me (and am also finding him quite attractive 😳)
