Strictly 2022 Thread 2 - Who's your favourite...

Hello folks,
Last one filled up and I was surprised another hadn't been started for a while.

First thoughts:
I like this year's cohort and I recognise a few faces.

• Jayde reminds me of Dawn French. Wasn't expecting her to be paired with Karen.

• Carlos and Vito will be interesting to watch in their debut. Molly went to Sylvia Young Theatre, so she could be a ringer.

• I've seen Jowita in The Greatest Dancer and she was phenomenal. Hamza looks like he'll be good fun.

• Luba looked amazing during John Legend's performance and it's a shame that neither her celebs went very far. Maybe she's better suited to dancing in the background.

• When Helen Skelton mentioned needing someone who could understand a northern accent, I immediately guessed it was Gorka.

• Ellie and Johannes look good together. She's absolutely delighted with him, and I hope we get to watch them for a good while.

• Matt Goss seems rather subdued, but I think he'll have a good work ethic and deliver a good performance.

Hamza, Helen and Ellie S are brilliant, and Will is amazing!

Molly really annoys me and I’m not sure why.

Oh I saw that In Glasgow it must have toured it was pretty naff but a great night out.

I am late to the party . Ritchie I had to hide behind a cushion it was a carcrash ! I love Ellie T and Johannes they were my favourites . Matt Goss is such a weirdo I don't know what's going on but he gives me the heebie geebies.

😂 Hopefully they won't give him much opportunity to speak on the live shows. Remembering that car crash documentary a few years back. "The letters H.O.M.E are so important because they personify the word home" 😫🙈

Fleur East not as good as as I thought, too stompy, like Tina Turner, didn’t have musicality

Hamza very good but hate the hair getting in the way
Jayde a bit stompy, needed heels

Watching on catch up, Will and Nancy were my favourite performance, absolutely loved them. Also thought Hamza and Jowita, Fleur and Vito and Ellie and Johannes were great. Liked Tyler, Helen, Jayde and Ellie S.

I felt for Tony in the judging, he looked crushed, I hope he stays in for at least a few weeks. Matt Goss is odd bordering on creepy and Gio has gone from the sublime to the ridiculous this year 😄

I think Tony will stay in for the wrong reasons ie so bad he's funny. Kay could be kept in by the Loose Women voters. Matt will be kept in by the Bros fans for a few weeks. After tonight, I actually think Jayde could be at risk for an early departure, not sure she has a high enough public profile for votes.. we'll have to see how they all do next week!

Argh!! I keep spelling her and wrong... Kaye!

I would like Tony to stay for a few weeks at least, just because he had such a battle to overcome his addictions, and his charity does some fantastic work.

I'm also mainly here for Gorka's trousers.

On the subject of Gorka, watching him tonight reminded me of that amazing group dance (halloween maybe) where he played the demon that dragged Kai through the mirror. MIght have to watch that again. Amazing characterisation by Gorka.

Slightly reeling from two consecutive nights of Strictly, but liking Helen/Gorka, Hamza/Jowita, Molly/Carlos best so far...

Kay Adams and Ellie T both better than I thought.

Ellie S and Nikita very joyful and endearing... Matt very serious about self and showbizzy, but he was ever thus, as I recall. Will be interesting to see how he develops, assuming he stays in long enough.

Joe V looks to me as if his patience is being severely tested, and I do wonder if he hasn’t got a holiday booked for 2 weeks time, in anticipation.

It Matt okay? For such an experience I thought that he wasn't quite there?

I think some contestants will suffer if they get a dance that doesn't suit them next week and doesn't make people pick up the phone.

Jayde and Ellie S may struggle with ballroom and I can't see Kaye being any good at Latin. Tony will be better at Latin I think, he could hardly be worse.

The documentary showed someone (I felt) who had some underlying psychological issues

Can't be as bad as Kwasi Kwarteng at the Queen's funeral surely? That was bloody awkward and really odd.

It did look like Matt was trying to not look into the camera when he was behind other contestants, but looked a bit like he was daydreaming instead. A bit out of his comfort zone I think. Maybe not comfortable in TV environment with the cameras and more used to the stage.

Will was very good. Though he would get middle aged fanny flutter vote by just being on the show, but his dancing has certainly sealed the deal with that.

Nobody really stands out for me right now as a fave. Next week should be interesting.

I've been calling her Faye 😂

Amy was cuddling Carlos at one point, I couldn't work out where their partners were as everyone else was with their partner.

Well, I've just caught up with the show and this thread, after a very delayed start.

Pleasantly surprised by Will and Hamza, although marking seems way too high for week 1. Will could well be a not so secret ringer though, given his background and being married to a dancer.

Hamza did very well not to get his hair in the way, but it will prove trickier to tame in faster and spinny dances, I'm sure.

Mollie's Samba wasn't bad at all as far as week 1 goes, but you want to watch Carlos rather than her at times. He was very elegant and fluid.

Nikita and Tilly won me over last year with their dance off, and I hope he stays in long enough with Ellie. They did well with the Cha Cha Cha tonight.

Karen looked fantastic.

I think Matt Goss crossed a line when his hand was on Nadiya's left cheek at the end of the dance.

Speaking of Gorka. I preferred the Romeo and Juliet dance he lead in his first year of Strictly here. He looked hot then, and had good chemistry with Oksana in that dance.

What psychological problems does Matt have?
