Strictly 2022 Thread 2 - Who's your favourite...

Hello folks,
Last one filled up and I was surprised another hadn't been started for a while.

First thoughts:
I like this year's cohort and I recognise a few faces.

• Jayde reminds me of Dawn French. Wasn't expecting her to be paired with Karen.

• Carlos and Vito will be interesting to watch in their debut. Molly went to Sylvia Young Theatre, so she could be a ringer.

• I've seen Jowita in The Greatest Dancer and she was phenomenal. Hamza looks like he'll be good fun.

• Luba looked amazing during John Legend's performance and it's a shame that neither her celebs went very far. Maybe she's better suited to dancing in the background.

• When Helen Skelton mentioned needing someone who could understand a northern accent, I immediately guessed it was Gorka.

• Ellie and Johannes look good together. She's absolutely delighted with him, and I hope we get to watch them for a good while.

• Matt Goss seems rather subdued, but I think he'll have a good work ethic and deliver a good performance.

Matt is odd
I loved Bros songs , but not them.

I really hope Matt goes early - he looks so awkward it's making me feel uncomfortable watching him, and I'm not watching Strictly to feel uncomfortable!

Her cha cha was way too aggressive and as Anton said lacking in refinement and technique.

I’ve liked Fleur in other things, I would like to have seen her with Gio but the new guy looks good.

I miss Alijaz though

Tony had me howling. It's like Mick from Gavin and Stacey has somehow wandered onto Strictly. If you're going to be bad it's better to have a total disaster than just to boringly plough through it.

10 points to Gorka's trousers.

I missed Oti and Aljaz. They rarely put a foot wrong as pros.

Ellie S, Hamza and Will were pleasant surprises. Kaye wasn't as bad as I'd feared.

That Bros documentary 'when the music stopped' highlighted how odd they were/are. Matt looks very mannequin like. Not sure if he's had work done but he looks like he has.

Oh, and I liked Fleur's wildness. I don't think she should rein that in too much.

Hamza was a revelation - he's not even a performer of any kind like the others.

When I was 11 I thought I'd marry Matt Goss when I grew up. I'm now glad I didn't.

Ellie Simmonds has just danced off Strictly and straight into Blankety Blank.

I remember seeing Will Mellor in a musical in Manchester over 20 years ago - great singer and dancer. I fell in love with him that night 😂. It was Oh What a Night with Kid Creole. Fabulous.

Yep noticed this - it's a big worry. Interested to watch him going forward.

I thought they were all amazing except matt and Tony.

I really enjoyed it. Thought everyone did so well.

Kaye wasn't as bad as I was expecting, Fleur wasn't as good (I also think she was too frantic), Ritchie was as irritating as expected (Gio was as beautiful as always), Karen stunning and Tony had me in stitches. I felt bad laughing though when he seemed so emotional with Claudia, saying he was annoyed to have let Katya down. I hope he stays and gets a bit better and Katya can work her magic to get the best out of him.

I'd like them all to stay for a few more weeks to give them a chance to settle down and really enjoy the experience before anyone is kicked off.

Didn't like the 9s though - far too high for week 1. Craig seemed like he'd taken happy pills and was far too nice compared to normal!

Where was Kaye at the end though? She disappeared..all others were there

If you watch the playback when the camera pans to Claudia, Nancy is running back to Will from the direction of Carlos, they are close so maybe she has congratulated him or something?
