Strictly 2022 Thread 2 - Who's your favourite...

Hello folks,
Last one filled up and I was surprised another hadn't been started for a while.

First thoughts:
I like this year's cohort and I recognise a few faces.

• Jayde reminds me of Dawn French. Wasn't expecting her to be paired with Karen.

• Carlos and Vito will be interesting to watch in their debut. Molly went to Sylvia Young Theatre, so she could be a ringer.

• I've seen Jowita in The Greatest Dancer and she was phenomenal. Hamza looks like he'll be good fun.

• Luba looked amazing during John Legend's performance and it's a shame that neither her celebs went very far. Maybe she's better suited to dancing in the background.

• When Helen Skelton mentioned needing someone who could understand a northern accent, I immediately guessed it was Gorka.

• Ellie and Johannes look good together. She's absolutely delighted with him, and I hope we get to watch them for a good while.

• Matt Goss seems rather subdued, but I think he'll have a good work ethic and deliver a good performance.

@LINABE me neither, she was a little over the top in the dance last night going a bit crazy, think she will be irritating.

I will wait to see them dance tonight before deciding who I like. Usually ones I like at the start start to wane and others creep up on me. I do love the Karen/Jayde pairing.

I decide who I will fast forward through tonight and I usually stick to my decisions.

Or maybe next week if I'm feeling generous.

Matt looked like Luke is being held hostage and this is the ransom. Nadiya blossomed under Dan's silliness last year and I wonder if being partnered with a Double-Donobot will subsume her personality again.

I like (fancy the pants off) Kai, but it's not looking good for his prospects. Kaye was terrible and petrified. I bet she's vomiting, crying and refusing to come out of a toilet cubicle as I type.

Never heard of Tyler but I thought he was coming across well. I like Dianne. Then they put the two of them together and it all started to get a bit too much.

Wasn't too sure about Richie but he and Giovanni are the pairing I am most excited about.

Alternatively, I've always thought Karen would be great in a same-sex couple but this one isn't it. Jayde has potential but ..... just no.

Hamza seems sweet but just like a regular member of the public, and therefore vulnerable. I am incredibly envious about where he lives. Speaking as someone who could at one point sit on her hair, I wonder if just the pure weight of all that hair could hamper him?

Like Will but wonder if Nancy will overwhelm him? She had a talented celebrity last year but I don't think her choreography showcased his ability.

Don't think jayde is right for Karen either, I can see it turning into a comedy act.

Feel for Joe Varney having to pair with Mr Thrush !

Just finished watching. Fleur was clearly the best celeb dancer - already looked confident and extremely competent but I didn't warm to her. Us the obvious ringers at the start often don't win!

My very early guess for the winner is Will.

Richie is going to irritate me extremely quickly and disappointed that Kai is probably going to be the first boot ☹️

Take heart, if Kai is booted first we’ll probably see more of him in group/guest singer dances - maybe even ITT?

Good point - plus Matt didn't look great last night either so Nadiya could be booted early doors so am sure they would do quite a lot of the performance dances with the singers.

I reckon Matt will be all super earnest like Jason Donovan all those years ago

My least favourite is probably Matt Goss, which would bewilder my 14 year old self! I just think he's been in Vegas too long, and takes himself a bit seriously with the teeth and the action man sprayed on hair. His dad looks like a proper normal geezer though, so who knows, he may surprise me.

As things stand, I haven't taken to or against a pairing. This may change tonight

Kai looks like he was born in a pit village in 1896 and is therefore fair game for all our middle-aged sexual urges. It's fancying Nikita or Cameron where you have to hand yourself in to a police station.

He could play a part in a Catherine Cookson mini series about a proud pit worker exploited by a cruel owner yet wining the love of the owner's willful daughter.

I like them all, unusually. Jayde, according to Wikipedia, has done lots of dancing before though, so that is a black mark for her in my book!
