I think Frank was in on it. He started the argument right on time.

He obviously knew his cancer was fake before the interview. So could have switched sides at that point. Probably realising Rachel really was thorn which would be stubborn and the ship was going down either way.

I remember end of season 1 he wasn’t too happy about it all, in his disgruntled shrugging frank way.

And the chat with the rabbi about forgiveness for his sins stuck out to me. At that point I thought he would be the one who leaks as the rabbi said you can’t be forgiven by confessing. You need to atone and right your wrongs.

Hence the not killing Rachel as he had too much blood on his hands (I think the fake Russian shooting team were controlled by America). But he did want the big tech data so kept on in a round about way.

LemonSwan · 14/09/2022 18:52

But yes… incredible!!

And the interview at the end, it just kept getting better.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/09/2022 19:04

I think I need to watch e6 again now knowing what we know

so the tv was pre recorded

rachel switched at the frank arguement with hand over techs hand

but surely if he was in the tv studio in front of all those watching , they would have known he wasn’t there and was in a cab

Oh well this is a really quite interesting theory.....

I'm sure there's stuff I didn't get to be honest. It was quite complicated every little thread in the end

purpleme12 · 14/09/2022 19:11

But how would he know his cancer was fake before his doctor...
His doctor called him...

LadyEloise1 · 14/09/2022 21:14

Thank you @LemonSwan
Your theory makes sense.

purpleme12 · 14/09/2022 21:16

But the doctor called him to explain? How would we explain that?

heartbroken22 · 14/09/2022 21:50

I'm not great with name but why was ds Flynn murdered in the hospital and by whom? I know it was the Nikolai but was it the Americans? I was so confused...

I think there maybe a series 3 judging by the way Rachel looked at the end...

purpleme12 · 14/09/2022 22:20

I'm a bit confused by the detail as well to be honest.

But it was so good I didn't care 🤣

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/09/2022 22:28

@heartbroken22 wrong place. Wrong time. He was saving the other man and as he saw his face had to die

Exactly. There's no evidence he knew the truth until the doctor called.

LemonSwan · 15/09/2022 15:12

Did the doctor call during the actual interview? If so that’s some timing. Missed that sorry.

Perhaps Rachel was just going to distract anyway and hadn’t banked on that.

I still think it stands Frank was in on it. If he thought his cancer was real still and he had to atone that’s ever more reason to switch sides. I think the call happening then still works as if he had that earlier he might have switched back IYSWIM.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/09/2022 14:58

Ok. Know rewatching

so Rachel told her sister do give the laptop to someone

as she said did I do ok /what you asked and Rachel said yes

i was Trying to work out how her recordings from laptop got into baddies hands

plus when doing the Isaac bbc interview
at 48m you see issaca body moved to screen and he’s being corrected and says she remembers her first time

assuming they will fake it

then at 49m as Isaac walks off the female news reporter glances into camera and smiles almost to say to Rachel let’s do this

and then he is fakes on screen

where when I was watching Monday I didn’t click this

so he says to Knox he’s pulled the interview which obv pissed him of

i didn’t reliese Monday that his interview with her was fake at first till Isaac on the cab watches his self

Then Greg Knox relieses he’s been set up s big tech as doing to him what he does to others

theres no fiddling of his cross so not him

frank gets a call at 56m from doctor and suss’s out he’s been screwed and not dying

Rachel squeezed his hand and clicked script edit

and all about deep fakes and correction

but as she signed the USA agreement with frank

she did it all for patrixk

its well worth another watch. Esp the last 20m

knowing what we know as the end

makes even more sense second watch

Rachel's expression at the end was when they said something like 'everyone complicit will get what's coming to them' - I think she realises she will be arrested as she was involved in it even though she was trying to bring it down?

What I don't get is how the hell Rachel would have known Frank and Gemma would get into a slanging match? That was a real plot hole for me. The only way she could have known was if Gemma told her she had faked Frank's cancer but I'd be surprised if Gemma would have trusted her with that? And how would she have been confident Frank wouldn't arrest her? 🤔

I do think it was fantastic and loved it but so many things bugging me 🤣

felineweird · 17/09/2022 10:19

Just been googling and seen that the CIA can't arrest people. So why did Gemma plead with Frank to arrest Rachel?

SoupDragon · 17/09/2022 16:32

I guess because they had made a big deal about them being subject to US laws so she couldn't arrest her.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/09/2022 16:52

She signed the USA agreement which i didn’t understand as is British

I can only assume frank thoight what the hell im
dying and happy to support Rachel as he was pissed off at Gemma for taking over

then as found out he wasn’t dying he was even more pissed off with her and why he didn’t do anything

It seems such a foolish thing for Rachel to do. No one will trust CCTV again. Everyone who's been convicted will need a re-trial. Why would Frank and her ex boss be so happy about it? I know it's a to programme but I way would anyone risk this.

LemonSwan · 17/09/2022 19:52

Because it’s wrong.

So what if it complicates things.

Seems a bit pointed sorry but have just finished 5 days at memorial and that had similar undertones (true story); of things not been investigated properly because it would make things complicated in the future and the truth being covered up. Which is just plain wrong!

Well worth a watch if anyone’s looking for something new. Quite harrowing though.

Whisperedew · 17/09/2022 21:09

My DP found it funny the BBC created a tv series about how corrupt the BBC are…

I thought they said they only altered things they had proof happened?

purpleme12 · 17/09/2022 22:33

@vroom321 but Sean didn't commit what they set him up for in series one did he

vroom321 · 17/09/2022 23:24

@purpleme12 No but they knew knew he got off with killing the taliban man. I thought that's why they did it? In my opinion killing at war and murdering a woman on the street is very different but I thought that's how they justified it.

bur didn’t deserve that
