They are just so incredible.

loobylou10 · 11/08/2022 21:55

Wow! What a heartbreaking episode. I would be so proud of that paramedic - a wonderful young man

Soontobe60 · 11/08/2022 21:57

Wonderful! Such compassion.

A Tough job though
Such lovely people

butterpuffed · 13/08/2022 10:36

The paramedic couple were lovely and so caring . I must admit I shed a tear myself when he started crying about the patient who just used to lie in bed.

I8toys · 13/08/2022 14:25

Best programme on the tv. Kyle is a wonderful compassionate person and the care he took of that old man. I was in tears.

That young paramedic couple 💗So inspirational.

I've just watched this, and I have to say I was surprised a couple would be allowed to work together on shifts in the ambulance service - then I wondered if they'd just been put together for the show and wouldn't normally.

JemimaTab · 17/08/2022 06:18

I think there was also a paramedic couple on one of the previous series (one of the North West ones). I did wonder about how good an idea it is for them to work together all day (in very harrowing circumstances), and then go home together. But I suppose they at least can share and understand the pressures of the job, which might be a good thing.
TBH I found some of the interactions at the call centre in this episode a bit staged, almost scripted. I suppose they will be, up to a point, but it’s not something I really clocked in previous series, something just jarred a bit for me there.

We said similar but I think with the issues they deal with the banter is their coping mechanism.
It did appear more staged than previous episodes but maybe not as much shown before.

I'm afraid I find it very saccharine and sentimentalised, it seems to have gone that way since covid; before that it was matter of fact and realistic. Now it feels like the ambulance and call centre staff are told to have conversations about certain topics, and it doesn't feel natural.

And I HATE the plinky plonk breathy voiced tear-jerker music at the end of every episode.

purpleme12 · 17/08/2022 07:22

I kind of know what you mean about the hint of being scripted. It was like there was almost a hint of it (in the control room)

But I actually love the music at the end

the80sweregreat · 17/08/2022 09:40

I did think that maybe the producers gave them a few topics to talk about and try and make it look like a normal conversation.
I'm sure they do discuss the wider social issues a lot more than someone who works elsewhere because they are dealing with bad situations every single day and most people don't day to day , it doesn't affect us as much.
Maybe this is why many people marry others with similar jobs to their own because they understand what the pressures are.

HerculestheHorse · 17/08/2022 22:46

This programme is highly scripted and orchestrated. The couple do not work together normally but were put together for filming.

purpleme12 · 17/08/2022 22:47

Do you know them?

ItsSnowJokes · 18/08/2022 22:06

The blonde female paramedic tonight was driving me potty with her mask! It was so distracting all the way through.

According to the paramedic Facebook sites. They are told to have conversations. And apparently they never update dispatch unless something happened.

purpleme12 · 20/08/2022 01:16

I'm so happy that Terry survived.

The longest time an ambulance had to queue was 7 hours ☹️

I really liked John.

So sad about the paramedic's wife who died. She was so young

butterpuffed · 20/08/2022 09:54

I don't think it's 'scripted' as such, just that the paramedics are asked to tell the viewers a bit about their lives, i.e. when the paramedic told us about his poor wife dying. Most of the time, they're on a call to an emergency or in the patent's house.

Well worth watching, they're brilliant.

purpleme12 · 20/08/2022 10:24

@butterpuffed people were referring to the 2 people in the control room deciding which ambulances go to which call in episode one when they were talking about it being scripted
