.... starts this month on BBC 2 and Solange is not judging - whilst she is probably great at jewellery I didn't like her as a judge ..... instead partnering Shaun is Dinny Hall - no idea what she will be like as a judge but I'm excited 😊

I thought the winning necklace was horrible, purely because of that red dipping rubber. That totally ruined it for me.

I agree about the heart necklace. Didn't like the red. Somehow it looked cheap and unfinished. I loved the other two. Shirley must've worn it for the final last December!

I’m confused. If this was judged on every piece as opposed to each episode’s pieces surely Emma should have won?

if not surely there is no point in knocking out contestants week by week. They should have all stayed in for fairness.

I liked the red heart necklace, and thought it looked fabulous when Shirley wore it. (Although agree that a garnet totally wrong for that jumpsuit.) However, my main bugbear with the other two was that they were just totally off the mark for Shirley herself, where I think Emma got her completely.

I hope Emma was set up to realise that they were going to ignore that specific day's results in picking the overall winner - seemed so harsh that she won both challenges, but didn't 'win the day'.

I also think they didn't want her to win overall, hence giving the other two joint second place and leaving themselves options - and I do get that, clearly both of the men were much more skilled jewellers than she currently is, just difficult the way it worked on the day.

I would agree with that. Piers has honed his technical skills through his work but hadn't needed the design skills, Jack had the imagination and design flair but hadn't had the need to perfect his technical skills.

Weren't they more of a dark red/brown rather than pink?

I thought Emma's design was great, but the bright red heart did not go with the garnet and the garnet was a bit of an afterthought. For that reason I can see why the judges picked Piers to win. His design was lovely and very elegant. I didn't like either of the pieces James made this week. It was clear that either Piers or Emma was going to win.

each week is judged purely on that week alone but the final is based on their overall work. I think this is fair.

Me & DH have just caught up with the final and we're glad that Piers won, not least because he's a local lad! We both thought his jewellery was beautiful and his style really evolved over the series. I particularly loved his spinning ring and the asymmetric earrings, both of which I coveted. I'm very tempted by an infinity necklace on his website - large hint to DH for my Xmas list!

I also thought that Dinny Hall made a fantastic judge. She was professional but at the same time so warm and empathetic.

I don’t like the ever increasing need for innuendos in ‘skill’ programmes. It just isn’t necessary.

I’m no Mrs Whitehouse but I am totally fed up of it as everyone and his maw is doing it.

I agree . And what’s with all the forced laughter and lame jokes? I really can’t stand the presenting style at all. The jewellery is fascinating but I can’t stand the innuendo either.

Emma's more OTT necklace was right for Shirley, but you couldn't effectively have a random celeb pick the overall winner based on said random celeb's tastes.

I thought Piers was an absolute twat at the beginning but he became more humble as the series went on. His jewellery was beautiful though, my favourite each week by a mile. A worthy winner.
The necklace for Shirley was an interesting one as close up I really liked Piers's but Emma's looked great at the distance of a camera shot. Piers and Jack's would have lost all impact.

I think there was a look on the male judges face when Emma won the challenge. My interpretation was ‘oh we are giving it to piers is this awkward’

it was a great show as so much skill showed. I had no idea how hard it is to make jewelry.

Ive really enjoyed this series but cannot STAND KR and Shaun . I wish they would drop the awkward cringey and inappropriate jokes and get rid of KR and Shaun Leane. Dinny Hall is great. Warm , interested and knowledgeable.

I've just binged this. Loved it all. BUT having watched them back to back, Jack seemed to win MANY more challenges than the others, and Piers really was an also-ran, so I'm a bit confused as to why he won 🤔

I've just binge watched. Personally I liked Emma's jewellery. it chimed with me and if i was going to buy anything I would buy from her.

However, I do think Piers is probably the better goldsmith. Emma uses cheaper materials and doesn't make "fine" jewellery really.

But in my case she makes stuff that appeals!
