I've just seen that it's on Channel 4 tonight and it appears to be a new episode. When did the new series start? And why is on a Saturday?

Have I missed much?

Viggoswife - I don't know if you saw yesterday's ep but Abby said to Neela that he was going to be stuck in Croatia longer than they expected. I get the feeling he isn't coming back.

Buda - not a lot. Abby invited Neela to come and stay while she recuperates and she agreed eventually. Hope is going somewhere for six months (somewhere hot - can't remember where!) and Maurice is terribly upset but doesn't want to go with her.

Pratt appears to be living with his pretty gf and invited Maurice and Hope round for dinner.

Sam, Tui and another woman went speed dating and Sam met that policeman she was dating but dumped and they ended up going out to dinner.

And a few random people died/were seriously ill/made miraculous recoveries obviously

Thanks spicemonster! Can't believe I forgot to record it. Although DH just pointed out that we now have Sky+ so I could set it to record the series! Am off to do that now! We don't get More4 or E4 though .

Ray was in love with Neela? Oh well..

Who is that new bloke, th eone who has been "sent up to ICU" for being too passionate and uncontrolable?

We tried to record it, but for some reason our V+ box hasn't recorded it. Perhaps it now has a mind of its own and is censoring what we watch?

So has Ray gone because he died or has crushed legs or beause he can't face seeing Neela ever again, and how did Neela get crushed, ie how was it related to what happened to Ray?

Ray went after he crushed his legs because he wouldnt be able to cope anymore I assume. His Mum came and took him back to Baton Rouge. Neela and he had a moment by his bed where he told her what he thought of her and then said well it doesnt matter now anyway after which there was a pause when she could have said his lack of legs didnt matter but she didnt and off he went.

Neela went off to go back to the hospital I assume and got caught up in some anti war rally, Gates was there too but I dont know why, his on/off daughter has been taken off to live with her grandparents, so that is why he was not in the hospital. Gun shots went off and she got trampled. Not sure how this could be related to Ray unless it was a clever ruse by the plot writers of ER to make us feel sorry for her and not just write her off for being a bitch to Ray.

Anyone else not that keen on Gates. Find him quite smarmy and not that attractive. Certainly not in George or Luca's league.

Gates is creepy! Although he seems to have improved. But doing the dirty on his gf with Neela in their bed didn't endear him to me I'm afraid ...

They always do that with characters in ER - soften them up. Pratt - was completely obnoxious, is now a good doctor. Maurice - was a total tit, now has a girlfriend and is a million times less geeky than he was. Carrie - was a cow but actually alright in the end etc etc.

Stanley Tucci will probably get it together with Sam or something

Im not keen on Gates either..but please tell me Luka is coming back..I love the man!

DH never watched ER the first time around but I have got him into it and he loved it so much that he has bought all the series that are out on DVD..so we are watching them all in order as well as the new series..in the old ones we are just up to where Mark Green has just had the op on his brain..DH doesnt know yet that he dies and it is nearly killing me not to tell him!

I miss Carter too..

Gates is beyond rank. All that stubble and that greasy hair, in addition to the fact taht his character's an utter tube steak.

Ray was the last semi-attractive person on there.

Of course, it's so fecking dark on all the sets it's hard to tell what folks really look like.

I've never seen a hospital quite so dark. And those mole holes they all live in.

Is that supposed to be to disguise Abby's constantly gurning face?

My goofball sister is - well, was until the writers' strike - and kept filling me in by email.

I wanted Desperate Housewives spoilers, but she kept feeding me that ER tosh.

I miss Elizabeth - Elizabeth when she was feisty not gloomy of course. And I miss Benton and Carol and Doug and Mark - not Carter so much tbh. I'm moderately fond of Abby, Pratt and Morris - but Sam gets on my nerves considerably and as for Gates - ugh! Oh and Neela - just how did she turn into miracle surgeon woman exactly? I also find chief surgeon bloke (can't remember his name - araargh) to be v annoying but his creepy little underling has something to be said for him. And I really don't care if Luka comes back from Europe or not if he's going to be as spineless and whiney as he was last season. I still watch it - out of habit - but we are definately heading for full arrest and thoracotomy (how on earth do you spell that?) if it doesn't pick up soon! Oh - well there's always the dvd sets....

That woman wasnt technically Gates' gf so you cant hold that against him. I do quite like him.
Ray shouldve magically re-grown his legs and come back.
Not fussed on any of the others.
But I do like Stanley Tucci as new ER chief. He had his own hospital drama that flopped (3lbs) after one series so I guess this is the next best thing for him

Miss the days of Carter (although couldnt bear his simpering gf), Carol, Doug, Mark, Susan etc. I love watching the re-runs

I think Gates is one of the more interesting characters now - like the storyline they had with him and his ex-girlfriend's daughter, and him opening up a bit to that kid about his bad relationship with his father.

But can anyone at all tell me why everyone is in love with Neela? Ray, Gates, Lubenko, some woman hit on her at Abby and Luca's wedding....

I don't see the attraction myself!

Yes we need luca back, esp since we have now lost Ray who was just starting to grow on me.

I get so fed up of how everyone in the cast has to be blown up, stabbed, run over, get a terrible disease, attacked by a lunatic, have a helicopter land on them, etc etc blah blah blah every episode - is there anyone there who hasn't either died or had an almost-fatal experience? Totally unnecessary as we are in an ER so there's plenty of scope for drama without constantly destroying the staff. When thsi series started and I saw neela also had to have a lifesaving operation I just couldn't be arsed any more.

I hate Gates. What a knob.
