Pressed send too soon

Complaints from @Aquarius1234 are as much a Love Island feature as the Baby Challenge.

I agree

I was just about to say these threads wouldn't be the same without Aquarius Grin

Zampa · 28/07/2022 07:02

Yeah, agree with this. It happened last year too. Posters can have opinions, you may not agree with them but it's not ok to see a pile on.

@Aquarius1234

Agree.

Many of us complain about it but still watch it. She’s entitled to her opinion and to comment whenever she likes. Don’t like? - don’t read.

Picoloangel · 28/07/2022 07:24

Yes, I get that but I find her very irritating. It’s like everything is “Act One, Scene One” and cynically it’s all about self promotion for when she leaves the villa. She’s v media savvy. As someone said on a previous thread it would be so much better to have normal people as opposed to insta types who already have lots of followers and want their blue tick.
What do I know? I can’t bear the Kardashians and all they stand for and they are breathtakingly successful. I see Ekin as being of a similar ilk.

Aquarius1234 · 27/07/2022 22:18

Oh come on, people here have been moaning about this series for weeks.
I've been more of a lurker.

A lurker 🤣🤣

Give over. You're one of the most prolific posters on the thread.

I think Love Island has become a victim of its own success. In the early seasons they had unlimited alcohol, could smoke openly and were literally shagging in broad daylight in front each other- cue lots of drama, intrigue and pure shock value entertainment.

It became more and more successful and started to attract a lot of mainstream media attention. Cue the scrutiny and inevitable backlash against the stuff that made the show show compulsive - alcohol is limited, no smoking (so less of that frank, smokers banter you used to have), contestants far more conscious of public perception and so far more inhibited in both behaviour and action. Or alternatively contrived - they know what the audience responds to, but because it is not ' authentic' it doesn't please in the same way.

Add in the focus on mental health, in light of tragic suicides of both previous contestants and the previous host - the producers are unsurprisingly now walking on eggshells. Gone is the lie detector, the Twitter challenge etc.

We are left with a highly staged, choreographed almost puppet show now.

CarpyDiem · 28/07/2022 08:04

Agree HinduKush and its why we get Islanders of the type we do now - those with a budding profile before entry are somehow considered better bets for withstanding SM reactions as they're voluntarily in the lion's den already. We're not going to see Jane and John Ordinary in there

But I don't think they need do away with the Twitter Challenge, because it's tightly controlled, just like Movie Night is.

I'd like to see tweaks that mean no-one has a safe ride to the final, and so greater potential for drifting apart and recoupling, with more newbies stayong.

Based on expectations of who's on what sort of deal, I reckon the finalists will be ES/Davide (though I think he's looking heartily fed up now, but will stick it out and prob for a few months outside), Gemma/Luca (who will split shortly after exit) and Paige/Adam

HinduKush · 28/07/2022 08:17

@CarpyDiem I agree with the Twitter challenge and I actually think it is helpful to the contestants - as it gives them an idea of how they are being perceived and an opportunity to self reflect and act on that (and improve public perception before they leave the villa)

They are going to see all of these social media comments when they leave the villa anyway, so it is not as though they can be shielded from it forever.

‘Did anyone order an Italian Snak(e)?’

i‘m hoping the previous poster was being sarcastic when alluding to bullying but seriously, Aquarius is one of the most tedious posters on these threads. They moan none stop about a show they seem to hate, it is beyond boring. I try and ignore it mostly but god it irritates me.

You’re not nice. I’d rather read @Aquarius1234 over you any day of the week

anybloodyname · 28/07/2022 09:00

And this is why I've given up on this thread and Love Island in general... whatever happened to Be Kind ?

Iamdonewiththis · 28/07/2022 09:14

When does the show end?

D & E S

or

A and Tasha for the win

Not fake P&A or G&L too contrived and false

WhenDovesFly · 28/07/2022 09:16

I was laughing at Gemma. She's made various comments through the series that she wants children, and as soon as possible. Last night she was getting made up for the evening and said (something along the lines of) "I've told Luca I need 2hrs to get ready and he'd better not bring that fucking baby near me". Good luck to her if she thinks she'll have a leisurely 2hrs to pamper herself as a new mum - unless she has a nanny of course!

I know Ekin-Su's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star was a bit cringe, but I didn't think her voice was too bad. Surprised she didn't sing in the talent contest rather than do that weird speech. Her singing is 100 times better than Lucas.

Surely Paige/Adam will split instantly upon exit 😂He can barely tolerate her when the cameras are on

All of this

Aquarius1234 · 28/07/2022 11:37

Puppets in January then....

Only interesting thing Ekin has said thus week that wasn't her usual drama OTT stuff, was that she isn't sure if she will move in with Davide ASAP, depends how busy she is..
Absolutely normal thing to say, but not playing the game like the others in that moment.

I agree with this.

I don't want to see the lie detector challenge back because that was utter tosh. So just putting it out there, incase anyone from production is watching :)

On a more serious note...what the heck was Davide doing to that doll 😂

This

"Should have been Paige and Adam to go . Their relationship is the fakest out of the lot.
Adam using this as an opportunity to redeem himself and make some money at the same time.
Bet he will be back with his ‘ex’ within six months" Yep will be

I think Adam is one of the fakest there, so that's some accolade 😅. He also gives me the ick though (sorry can't think of a better word) for some reason. I don't know why.

I still haven't caught up with the last episode so reading the threads. I usually find the commentary on those more entertaining at times!

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 28/07/2022 12:57

I thought it was really sweet the way Andrew talked to baby Leo about his ‘mum’s’ superpower.

FiloPasty · 28/07/2022 13:39

Eddie I would have normally but bet it was scripted by the producers, it’s all a bit vomit worthy

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 28/07/2022 13:43

Aye you’re probably right.

This though I’m not sure that Paige even likes him either. He annoys me and the way she bobs her head and constantly puts her tongue on top of her front teeth with closed lips irritate me for some reason.

Davide’s face when he saw the doll wearing extensions made me smile. Regardless of who wins, ES and Davide brought the most entertainment by far ho the villa this year. The others were painful to watch.

BiscoffSundae · 28/07/2022 16:13

Tasha or Ekin to win?

Tasha has had a good journey

Ekin has been non stop entertainment
