So this is it gang, the final thread.

Will Paul & Therese get it on in time?
Who's off to The US?
Who moves in no 24?
Will Toadie make it down the aisle again?
Will Jane ever move out?
What will the last ever words spoken be?

And anyone going to the shows has to come back and spill the deets

I’d also like to thank you guys who have been here chatting away for however many years. You’ve all been a delight and I’ve loved our analysis, who to push on the well list, fantasy plot lines (bar @SleepingStandingUp‘s Gary erotica) and general love and support. You really are a wonderful bunch and I hope some of you will still be around as we rewatch it and reanalyse it but just in case any of you hop off now, just thank you for sharing here. I know some of us will be in the same room in March and not know it which I think will be funny. You guys are truly awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I've always loved reading everyone's thoughts about the especially ridiculous moments! So thank you from me too, I'll be stalking the H&A thread and pop up when I'm really indignant about something Grin

For me there was a bit too much of Jane and Guy Pierce - seems like it really appealed to those who haven't watched since the 80s but I only really paid attention since the late 90s onwards (although I was born late 80s, so I suppose it would be in my background consciousness as DM has watched from the beginning!) I liked Jane and Clive together but they've blown up a fight that wasn't really that serious and given him a bit of a personality change (alcohol and agression) to make us want Jane with Mike instead. Didn't Clive say he was off to LA (where Sheila is now?)

The last bit with Susan was beautiful and made me cry. I recognised all of the lost characters and Finn Kelly just waltzing down the street was great. Really well done and a satisfying ending. Can't really believe it's over!

JustDanceAddict · 30/07/2022 07:19

Loved it!
i watched from the beginning in the 80s through tail end of school, through uni and beyond, probably until around 2000 so all the old characters really appealed to me!!

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 07:19

Im so glad they all didn’t sell up. No idea why the Rodwell’s gegged in to stay too!

Maybe they’ll do a 40th anniversary special at least. Is JK Rowling a fan - she could bank roll it.. or do a Harry Potter style permanent set tour.

Reading perfect blend ; they said that Neighbours would refer to the site to remind themselves of various back stories! Such a rich multi layered soap. Gone. :(

Clawdy · 30/07/2022 07:23

I know Billy and Libby appeared but I didn't spot them!

lollipoprainbow · 30/07/2022 07:26

Brings back so many memories of growing up in the 80's! Did anyone else have the yellow neighbours book? I used to watch after school and at lunchtime if I was off school poorly, going for gold was on afterwards ! Joe mangle actor mark little used to live in Brighton, I remember seeing him in the car next to mine at the traffic lights and he was grinning as if to say 'yes it's joe mangle !' Was stunned to discover that the Mrs mangle actress was living in the next town to me in Sussex when she died a few years ago!

LIZS · 30/07/2022 07:27

@KatieKat88 I assumed Clive was off to meet Sheila in LA to see where that would go, leaving the way clear for Mike.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/07/2022 07:29

watched some of the final last night
and the where are they now.
wondered where Henry had got to,
apparently accused of sexual assualt although acquited, he wasnt invited.
not sure if this has already been mentioned.
i didnt watch neighbours with kylie
but afterwards, early 90s i think

Clawdy · 30/07/2022 07:23

I know Billy and Libby appeared but I didn't spot them!

Libby was on first. Billy had the bridge behind him?

it was all such a blur - I feel like I watching it frame by frame is necessary!

nameychange · 30/07/2022 07:32

Clawdy - they were in the video messages to Toadie and Mel

im gonna miss watching. No more ridiculous implausible storylines and weddings/funerals were close family don’t attend. I’m hoping one of the streaming channels picks it up and I can binge watch the early years and the whole thing again

lollipoprainbow · 30/07/2022 07:35

I had a massive crush on Henry!

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 07:35

Channel 5 could easily repeat it. Instead of giving us cash in the attic.

Im boycotting the homegrown channel 5 dramas in protest.

agree with both of your comments

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/07/2022 07:40

i saw Lou in panto in Hastings in 1999!

milesymoo · 30/07/2022 07:46

Did anyone figure out the significance of the number plate of the mini? The camera seemed to linger on it long enough for it to mean something?

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 07:50

And the air freshener in the car! Was it to show where they’d been living?

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 07:51

Or was there a cast name? Cody?

milesymoo · 30/07/2022 08:21

Screenshot and still can't work it out?

nameychange · 30/07/2022 08:32

Milesymoo I think it’s the car Charleen originally left in

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 30/07/2022 08:34

I wanted to thank you lot. Over the last couple of years since I discovered you I’ve enjoyed coming on here even if I didn’t post much. It meant that whenever we had a query while we were watching it I would log in to see what you lot thought. There was often at least one post explaining or confirming. And it was always entertaining. I cried in the shower last night and I realised it’s because I’m awful at endings.

With a little understanding
you can find the perfect blend

Neighbours should be there for one another
That’s when good neighbours
become good friends”

nameychange · 30/07/2022 08:34

Although licence plate is a link to wear they now live

nameychange · 30/07/2022 08:41

So they’re Queensland plates, there was also a key ring in the car for Coffs Harbour which is where Charleen is said to have been born.

Oakdog · 30/07/2022 09:00

I've watched it on and off more or less since it started- mainly on. Loved last night's episode, so well done. I can imagine turning the TV on at 1.45pm to watch it by accident for quite sometime.
I'm convinced when it first aired it was on at 9.30am and then 1-something in the afternoon, rather than the 1.30/5.30 slots and we had to video it to watch after school. Does anyone else remember this, or have I made it up?

I'm sure I remember that too, then they realised how popular it was with school kids and changed the time to 5.35 (and then H and A was on at 6, I think)

LIZS · 30/07/2022 09:10

I think the am showing was a repeat from previous day.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/07/2022 09:24

i used to watch it at lunch time at work and occasionally after 5 as well, my dm read ealry 1990s that many babies calmed to the theme tune as their mothers used to watch while pregnant, and be relaxed
