So this is it gang, the final thread.

Will Paul & Therese get it on in time?
Who's off to The US?
Who moves in no 24?
Will Toadie make it down the aisle again?
Will Jane ever move out?
What will the last ever words spoken be?

And anyone going to the shows has to come back and spill the deets

I found it hard watching Therese in this. I always think of her as Sophie in Home and Away.

Me too! And strange that Guy Pearce appeared in Home and Away after Neighbours as her teacher who had an affair with her and got her pregnant!!

I kept thinking she was Supernanny! She looks so like her.

when she first joined I felt the same too. But I see her as Terese now.

Jackie W doesnt sound like Susan?!! 😱😱😱

milesymoo · 30/07/2022 00:01

Can someone remind me who Sonja was (i think one of the ghosts?)

I'm in bits having just finished it

milesymoo · 30/07/2022 00:02

And I thought the guy with the beard at the wedding was Darren stark? I'm so confused!

Rummikub · 30/07/2022 00:03

Sonya was standing with the kids - she hugged Callum

Beketaten · 30/07/2022 00:04

Really enjoyed it. Great way to end and I loved all the nods to the past. I wish Ch5 was rerunning it from the beginning, but realised I'll probably be dead before it reaches the end again!

Another crossover - Doug Willis/Terence Donovan played Sophie Simpson/Rebekah Elmaloglou's father in Home and Away.

No that’s Lucas Fitzgerald - one time owner of the garage. Current director.

Sorry, I should have been more specific! I haven't watched it since the 90s but understood Sonja was a ghost-i meant what was her character?

milesymoo · 30/07/2022 00:10

I've just googled. Scott major played the original Darren Stark in 93 which is when I watched it-that is what has confused me!!

FarewellNeighbours · 30/07/2022 00:11

I’m pretty sure the guy who played Lucas also played Darren stark for a little while.

Sonya was married to Toadie. Nell and Callum are her bio children.
She died, horribly, of cancer. I don’t think anyone wanted her to leave.

milesymoo · 30/07/2022 00:15

@TheWomanTheyCallJayne ahhh thank you. Makes it more poignant. Oh gosh I'm crying all over again and I didn't even watch that story line!

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 30/07/2022 00:35

I feel like we need a list of everyone we saw or who was referenced.

Did anyone else think that at one point it looked like an orgy was starting?

MiddleClassProblem · 30/07/2022 00:50

Honestly, if anyone I’d going back to watch eps after not watching for X years, Sonya’s death was one of the most heartbreaking.

MiddleClassProblem · 30/07/2022 00:56

I’d also like to thank you guys who have been here chatting away for however many years. You’ve all been a delight and I’ve loved our analysis, who to push on the well list, fantasy plot lines (bar @SleepingStandingUp‘s Gary erotica) and general love and support. You really are a wonderful bunch and I hope some of you will still be around as we rewatch it and reanalyse it but just in case any of you hop off now, just thank you for sharing here. I know some of us will be in the same room in March and not know it which I think will be funny. You guys are truly awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

ItsJune · 30/07/2022 01:53

Just finished. I am utterly heartbroken! I'm 39 and I've watched almost my whole life, I don't think I've missed an episode. It's very, very strange to think I won't watch a new episode ever again. As a child, I'd watch it with my grandma & sister after school, then I watched while feeding my babies. In recent years I've had to save it as a 10pm treat on catch up when those no longer babies have gone to bed. But it's been a constant in my life.

An amazing ending, lovely to see old cast and new coming together. It will leave such a hole.

EBearhug · 30/07/2022 02:01

I think I'll need to watched that again.

💖 This has been a fabulously lovely thread to chat on.

Did we ever figure out the ladybird move..

Ill definitely be checking in. I want news of the tour and if anyone goes to Ramsey Street so I can plan my trip too. Told my dc it’s on my bucket list.

I’ve watched it twice and I’m going to do another.

SpaghettiSquash · 30/07/2022 03:10

That was great. I haven't watched Neighbours for over 25 years. However, I remember watching the very first episode and then watched it avidly all the way through secondary school and then uni. I was also shocked at how some of the cast have aged and realised that I will have aged just as much!

If you can.on daily motion or somewhere I'd try and catch the weeks epsand her death.it was bloody wrenching.
Sonja was a fantastic actress.deff one of the best they've had.
I'd say she was also toadies one true forever love.

kateandme · 30/07/2022 06:03

I need a channel to do re- run from the start! Keep us all going, some of us till death haha.or can't Netflix buy the whole box set now?I find odd episodes in highly legal places but it's bit the same.
Also every time home and away comes on I get a lump fearing it will end soon too! Couldn't bare it.
As sad is it might sound,as pathetic these two shows have seen me through alot.from just being there alongside my years of growing up,associating different episodes and eras with certain ages of mine.to actually being a great respite is certain times.i will missing so much.abd it's clear to me it should NOT be ending.

kateandme · 30/07/2022 06:04

Anyone seen dippy or cloves ex say anything in real life.or toadies brother?
