So this is it gang, the final thread.

Will Paul & Therese get it on in time?
Who's off to The US?
Who moves in no 24?
Will Toadie make it down the aisle again?
Will Jane ever move out?
What will the last ever words spoken be?

And anyone going to the shows has to come back and spill the deets

Oh, well played, Neighbours. Well played 😭

It was Susan saying "and those who have watched us from afar" is what set me off 😭

Thought that was a lovely acknowledgement to us Brits.

WhatTAF · 29/07/2022 22:39

I haven’t watched it for 20 years but watched it today. I though Steph Scully’s put on weight!! and then I realised it wasn’t her, it was someone called Terese. They look exactly the same!!!!

PlanetNormal · 29/07/2022 22:44

I’m part of the original ‘Generation Neighbours’, having watched it from as near when it started on the BBC as lunchtime filler as makes no difference. I remember Kylie’s debut as ‘Lenny’ and Jason taking over the role of Scott from the previous actor. I even remember Max Ramsay.

Until tonight, I hadn’t seen the show for probably 30 years, but I thought I would watch the last show for old time’s sake. I didn’t expect it to be such an emotional experience, and I didn’t expect it to make me reflect so much on my own life, and the decades which have passed. The way Jane, Paul, Des & Clive have aged shocked me, (I didn’t recognise Clive at all) and made me wonder if I had aged as visibly as them. In contrast, Scott & Charlene have barely aged at all. I don’t mind admitting I shed a tear as Jane & Mike got back together as ‘raw & damaged’ middle aged people, in beautifully acted scenes.

In the video? That was Steph
what makes you think she was called Terese?

Squiz81 · 29/07/2022 22:49

Who was the other ghost in the scene when we saw Madge?

upliftingtwisting · 29/07/2022 22:49

I’ve just watched. Very emotional as I was a big watcher in the early days. Why on earth did Kylie not speak though.

Starburst8 · 29/07/2022 22:50

Squiz81 · 29/07/2022 22:49

Who was the other ghost in the scene when we saw Madge?

I thought that was Doug Willis

woodhill · 29/07/2022 22:52

Yes it was

Fiddlersgreen · 29/07/2022 22:53

Squiz81 · 29/07/2022 22:49

Who was the other ghost in the scene when we saw Madge?

The man sitting with them?
That was Doug Willis. Terese’s ex father in law. Played by Jason Donovan’s real life father

TortolaParadise · 29/07/2022 22:53

Neighbours has been my whole life from primary school to secondary to uni till now. 37 years! Wow! I have dipped in and out over the decades but feel emotional today thinking back to my school days when this was the main topic of conversation.
I'm sure my old school friends are watching wherever they are and I hope they are all happy too!

maddiemookins16mum · 29/07/2022 22:55

I haven’t watched it since the late 80s but watched tonight. Loved it.
However, where was Lou?

Also, DP and I kept commenting on some of the ‘originals’ (Des etc) and saying ‘oh they’ve got soooo old’ and then realised that we’d all be the same age.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 29/07/2022 22:56

That was brilliantly done. I hadn’t watched regularly in over 15 years, but so many childhood memories came flooding back 😍

I must be feeling very emotional because your post has made me well up 😭

woodhill · 29/07/2022 23:01

Liking Jackie W's Northern Ireland accent when she's being interviewed

forthispostonly · 29/07/2022 23:17

I am broken.
I watched Neighbours with my mum after school as a teenager, then through university when we talked about it when I called home and I've watched it ever since, most recently with 14yo DD every day after she finished school right from primary to now.
It has aged with me, as has the technology I've watched it on. As a kid my dad recorded it for me if I was going to miss it - on a betamax video recorder then VHS then a hard drive until the advent of recordable TV.
😢I know it's a 20 minute unrealistic soap opera era but I am so going to miss it.

HaveringWavering · 29/07/2022 23:22

That was a very weird trip down memory Lane, but I am very much of the Scott/Charlene/Mike/Jane/des and Daphne/Paul and Gail era so had no idea who most of them were.

Was Mel previously married to Des or did so make that up?

Shame they didn't include Jim Robinson and Helen in the ghosts.

Can anyone remind me who Craig MacLachlan played? Henry, who was Charlene's brother, right? But then who was Shane, was he not also Charlene's neither? And did Craig Maclachlan have some sort of scandal or something?

Rockbird · 29/07/2022 23:27

If Madge appeared as a ghost then why couldn't Daphne? 😭

Rockbird · 29/07/2022 23:28

Shane was Charlene and Henry's cousin. His dad was Madge's brother. I think.

Rummikub · 29/07/2022 23:35

That was truly amazing. I started crying within the first minute. Loved the old Neighbours intros.

I had my head in my hands at many points.
Gasped when Terese kissed Paul.
Cheered when they decided to stay. More cheers when toadie did too.

Loved the house tours with Mike reminiscing about the houses and seeing the old sets/rooms. Really wanted mike and Jane together again. He suits her more than Clive- Clive is too reserved.

Donna spoke at least three sentences. Mentioned the shrugello! Kylie though great to see her there- she only spoke 5 or so words!
home sweet home
hmm
harold!

Susan’s walkthrough with Sonya appearing was tearful.

I bloody loved it!

And now I want then to show it all again. Or at least key storylines if we can’t have a reincarnated version.

WhyDoesItAlways · 29/07/2022 23:36

I thought Helen was one of the ghosts next to Madge and Doug? Or maybe I just imagined her?

I also thought Terese looked like Steph scully when she was wearing the white shirt and leather jacket, I did a bit of a double take there.

Was a bit sad there wasn't more of Lucas in there as he is lovely but guess he and Lauren were busy directing it.

Did anyone watch the program after about the stars who have come from neighbours and noticed Susan/Jackie's accent, it seemed to have a bit of an American twang to it.

TortolaParadise · 29/07/2022 23:36

I hoped to see Lou.

Rummikub · 29/07/2022 23:39

I’m watching that programme now.

its fab seeing them all again.

Still loving Jason’s ad for postcode lottery 😂

lovelyboneslove · 29/07/2022 23:40

I found it hard watching Therese in this. I always think of her as Sophie in Home and Away.

It was very beautifully acted. Guy Pearce was fantastic. I loved the way he was in it for most of the hour rather than a couple of minutes like Kyle and Jason.
