What happened to the love island thread

Just been on to catch up on what I'd missed and the thread has gone?! Anyone have any idea why?

Uggggh. Just typed a massive post and it’s disappeared. Meh.

Boiked down to, I don’t mind Gemma - she’s young, I like Luca, he’s funny, David-eh? has eyes that are too close together and sounds like he’s one step away from offering me a cornetto, Ekin-Su is going in too hard and Liam is giving me serious Naz vibes.

Davide is the same type as Adam.

He really is. I thought it last night but couldn't think of Adam's name. I was like it wasn't Tommy but it was that ilk and it was bugging me .

Not disliking Gemma as much. She’s just young and trying to play the game.

Not liking Tasha as much. Suspect she’s going to play the victim about the challenge even though she chose Luca.

Ekin Sue is coming in way too keen.

ES is clearly very experienced and probably very intelligent. She knows exactly how to make all the boys drool over her, and it's working. Her only mistake is alienating the girls, which will backfire later - it always does.

I think Luca is massively game-playing. He knows that ES is the most "high status" (i.e. fancied) girl, and will probably get together with Davide (the most fancied boy). While all the other boys are chasing ES, Luca can swoop in on Gemma (the next most fancied girl) who yesterday all the other boys were after. We know from the boys-only chats that Luca is really into ES too, so I think he's playing this tactically. He's funny, but I don't trust him.

Afia seems really nice, normal, and friendly, and surprise surprise nobody is into her.

There was definitely an implication that it's a race issue.

So far, Afia definitely seems the most normal and good craic. The only girl I could imagine being friends with in the villla.

They're a tight knit group this year in terms of the girls. If we get to group vote offs, the two new girls are screwed.

however, having seen every series, for every one case of Rachel (which I honestly don't think had anything to do with her skin colour) I could give you 2 who didn't demonstrate your 'point'.

Because just off the top of my head I can also name Samira, Yewande and Kaz (they were all picked last in the initial line up episode and were further left out later on their series), so in total that is 8 more black girls you need to name who weren't discriminated against and were treated the same as the white girls in the villa.

Aggression? Yikes! Keen to hear the names of the black women (doesn't seem as much of an issue for the black men aside from Sherrif perhaps) who have been treated fairly on love island? It's not even just the fact that every series they choose men who have a preference for white women, but it's the way the show is edited, the way social media judges them amongst other things. There is most definitely an issue with race in this programme, I don't know why you're getting so defensive to try and deny that?

I think it's well documented that Love Island has a D&I issue. I can see that there have been attempts to change things by the production team but there's still a way to go in the UK in general.

I rather agree about nested quoting - more than 2 and gets hard to read.

But I do wonder if the reason they did away with Islanders choosing initially (based on looks alone, really) was so that there wasn't a fourth year when the young black woman with the darkest skin tone is last to be picked.

Amber Gill is black (biracial) and won Love Island in 2019 with Gregg. So the race issues aren't always clear cut

Does anyone know what time they turn the lights off at night & on again in the morning? Judging by the sun it looks like they do wake them fairly early (by which I mean 9ish) rather than allowing them to sleep in until midday?

Poor Liam isn't getting any airtime which is always an indicator that his days are numbered. Afia too. She's getting passed over for Ekin-Su which is a shame because she seems alright.

Depends on the filming schedule apparently but they are awoken no later than 0930 in the am.

Would drive me mad not knowing the time and having to do a Crocodile Dundee with the sun (showing my age there).
