Anyone watching ?

Was anyone else a bit gobsmacked at the mother and daughter duo's first house. Cosmetically it looked very nice but the camera did pan on to some appalling finishes.

I was shocked, but even more shocked that someone appears to be willing to pay top dollar for a poor finish.

Not seen this but I have a soft spot for George Clarke!

God you really shouldn't do! I used to work with him at one of the top 4 UK architects firms and he was a bit of a pompous arse who didn't last long... Not friendly at all and totally focussed on himself.

All the girls including me loved him (his eyes are a stunning blue) but he didn't have the same appeal on men who found him creepy when I asked!

Lalalalalalala I can’t hear you! He has a Geordie type accent which overrules everything else for me😂

I caught up with this the other evening (watching pretty much every property show at the mo, as we're mid-renovation).

The brother and sister co-hosts are very beautiful. And the older couple who don't have surveys done, and didn't know about spreadsheets are a lost cause - real shouting at the telly sort stuff.

But I find the format really strange - covering up the production schedule, as if we don't know that it takes months between putting a house on the market and completion, even at auction. They're trying to make it seem like they meet up every week to discuss their wins and losses. It's a bit insulting. Also, no mention of the impact of Covid / stamp duty etc, unless I missed it.

Grin. It's such a shame that he wasn't even charming!

I did have a Geordie IT call centre guy speak to me the other day, and loved Auf Wiedersehen Pet in my teens for similar accent reasons so I totally get the Geordie type accent love! Smile.

LadyEloise1 · 21/06/2022 15:36

Oh I do like a Geordie accent too. It's got that musical lilt a bit like a Welsh accent.

I love the couple who're not bothering with surveys! In real life they'd drive me mad, but on this they're a bit of comic relief from the other very earnest contestants!

Playplayaway · 23/06/2022 16:22

It looks like the Welsh lads are in with a chance. I like them, they just get on with it.

Glad the mum of 3 (I'm terrible at remembering names) got herself a decent profit, even thought she can't win.

There's something about the mother daughter pair that grates. They're quite full of themselves.

I'd love to see the caravan couple sneak up and win!

Chattycatty · 23/06/2022 17:58

George Clarke is FINE!! 😍😍😍

CoffeeWithCheese · 23/06/2022 18:06

Ahem George Clarke is most definitely NOT a Geordie. He was at the same 6th form college at the same time as me apparently but I never had the joy of running into him.

I saw the first one of these with the older clueless couple flipping a house which was next door to one I used to live in!

HalleLouja · 23/06/2022 21:33

I am strangely addicted to this programme. Apart from those trips to Dubai. Though some camera men had a great Jolly.

It does seem that if you live in the north or Wales you are at an advantage. I think I would like the Welsh guys to win. Although I do like Harriet and her ridiculous efficiency, she did good.

He is from Sunderland.

He is I believe. Sadly to most Southerners we lump Geordies and folk from Sunderland in together don't mean to! Smile

Seen too many properties that have been 'flipped' that have shiny kitchens and paint jobs covering up the actual stuff that needs sorting such as damp issues, poor roofs, crappy windows, lack of insulation etc. There's already enough crappy houses on the market, let people buy them for their own use and renovate them properly!

This is a bit idealistic.
Most young families with full time office jobs and no real diy skill can’t renovate themselves. It’s so hard to get trades, work in progress is dangerous for young children, it’s stressful and expensive and most can’t afford to move into rental and pay the mortgage.

HalleLouja · 30/06/2022 18:45

I was kind of hoping that Janet and Olivia didn’t win, as they seem to think that they invented dressing a property…..

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 30/06/2022 19:59

I wanted the couple from Norfolk to win, they seemed a bit more humble. Janet and Olivia came across snooty when they were looking around the finished houses. I’m glad all of them got to keep their profits in the end though.

PartyPlan · 30/06/2022 21:07

I was actually pleased Pam and Gordon didn’t win. They worked hard but they were the most annoying people to watch.

I feel exactly the same as you, there’s being a beginner in doing something, learning as you go, and sheer bloody ignorant and making a profit by sheer chance! They were definitely the latter!

SoupDragon · 02/07/2022 19:27

I started this episode wanting Janet and Olivia to win but they were just so horrible with the "oh, they've copied us" sneering that I was rooting for Pamela and Gordon at the end.
