I think she made such a fuss over a few skipped meals (didn't she eat a few sandwiches tho) she will make Emily into a faddy eater, and one who haves food issues

nappyaddict · 20/01/2008 22:30

fair enough to go in and talk and give advice if they aren't handling something and you can help them, but i think it was unfair how some of the parents criticised the teens for tiny things and criticising them isn't going to do much for their confidence.

you can do a) and say we're thinking of taking our child out of the experiment cos you've forgotten to do this, that and the other and frankly you need to grow up

or b) i know it's difficult cos you've never done this before and we've noticed you're finding x, y and z particularly hard so we thought we'd give you a few pointers to help make it easier for you cos we know how hard it can be and we've had a lot longer to get used to it than you have.

the outcome of getting the teens to look after your child in the way you want is the same in both instances but b) is going to leave them feeling more positive which is surely an advantage when they are looking after your child. who wants someone miserable and negative looking after them?

i did wonder how enily coped at nursery I am sure a nursery won't pander to her like Mum. 3andnomore i remember the couple but not the children.

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 22:36

snap, sparkly!

that's the first thing i thought, 'make food into a really big deal instead of something that's fun and enjoyable and it will be. for the rest of their lives.'

ineedapoo · 20/01/2008 22:38

I must admit i wouldn't do it as I am a control freak !!!!!

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 22:38

and the dad chewing the teens out really didn't help matters.

like they're going to know and understand what it's like to have kids?

i mean, why turn your kids over to teens with an attitude like that? most teens won't see things like a 30-something because they're . . . not.

yes, kids are your priority, but then they grow up and move away. you and your sense of self has to be one, too.

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 22:39

i wouldn't do it because it would confuse the fuck out of my toddler and pre-schooler and they're not guinea pigs or a pawn to get a free holiday.

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 22:41

I think, if I remember correctly mummy penguin described my son as very whiney and annoying, lol....(which he can be, I agree,lol...but they did show all the worst bits of him, honest ;))
He was the little lad that constantly soiled himself...(and that was extrem there, because he had no privacy...cause the Teenagers were told they have to follow the children around at all times....lol...which well, simply isn't actually necessary with an almost 4 year old child...but some of the otehrs had younger toddlers, so, maybe that was why they were told it!)

I must admit, I rember an incident where the parents were annoyed that the Teens didn't let their child cry to sleep, i.e. do CC...and I thought that was odd, because, I personally would NOT expect my child to go to sleep normal in a completely different environment with people they don't know...I thought the Teens did what they felt was best and not let the lil Tot cry ...but of course everyone thinks differently...

expat...to me it wasn't a ticket for a free Holiday, despite being put up in a super dooper posh hotel...I had my ys with me, and hotles and BTots don't go, lol...
indeed, Iwould have prefered to just have proper accomodation on set...
I must admit, I did watch VT all day, and only spend the nights in the Hotel...just because I wanted to be there incase I needed to intervene...
but I am quite laid back, tbh...and they did, all in all, cope well anywya

Oh I remember now

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 22:44

lol...not sure that is a good thing ;)

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 22:46

i just don't understand why a parent would do this with a baby, toddler or pre-schooler, tbh, 3.

it strikes me as reality TV at one of its worst moments.

ineedapoo · 20/01/2008 22:48

Oh sorry not bad he seemed like a normal cheeky boy I have one myself who is 3 and about once a week stand in a room and says oops I'm wee weeing

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 22:49

they try things on, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

that's what they do.

it throws you, at first.

but then i think, 'i'm the boss, not you!'

damn, i did my time. now it's MY time!

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 22:52

Well, we obviously felt that it would be a good experience...what with all them teenage pg's...like I said that year all teh couples said they were ready to have Baby's...and it put them all off, bar 1, lol

sparklygothkat · 20/01/2008 23:00

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 23:02

lol

OP posts:
sparklygothkat · 20/01/2008 23:07

ineedapoo · 20/01/2008 23:08

sparklygothkat · 20/01/2008 23:12

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 23:13

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 20/01/2008 23:15

every time i've criticised the parents i've been wondering what if one of them is an mner!!

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 23:18

I am sure it was mummypenguin, who, at first didn't believe that I was for real...hehe...
I think because they spelled Yannic like Jannic...it was really funny...
oh the little things that stick in your mind
I did come on to defend my son, though...whilst, as I said, I agree he can be a bit annoying and whiney and loud and all that....they portrayed his first night really badly...making it look like he didn't go to bed till very late, when he was actually in bed by 9 something...but they had started the bedtime bits at something like 5.30 so, that dragged it out (he doesn't go to bed till like 7pm anyway, and he had a long nap that day, when they went shopping, which he usually didn't have, lol)...

OP posts:
3andnomore · 20/01/2008 23:18
