Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

Evening all

Roussette · 18/05/2022 21:02

Evening!

Recycled clothes then...

Wolfcub · 18/05/2022 21:02

Evening all

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:03

I use a lot of recycled fabrics so I like this week.

Jellykat · 18/05/2022 21:04

4 hrs 15 mins to sew 96 squares together, before you make the jacket.. come on now Hmm

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:04

This sample jacket is hideous 😂😂

Roussette · 18/05/2022 21:05

Gosh the sample jacket they're showing is vile

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2022 21:06

Pretty sure my mum had a patchwork jacket in the 70s. To go with flares and clogs...

Halsall · 18/05/2022 21:06

Evening.

Mitred corners, eh? Heh, heh, heh. Evil.

dillite · 18/05/2022 21:07

Evening. Tonight's challenge is evil!

Wolfcub · 18/05/2022 21:08

I had a velvet patchwork jacket as a teen.

Maireas · 18/05/2022 21:12

Interesting bit of history there. Working with scraps borne out of necessity, not style choice.

dillite · 18/05/2022 21:12

All that effort to sew the patches only to cut them up again.

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:13

A lot of them seem to be way behind.

Halsall · 18/05/2022 21:13

I’d be really annoyed if I made a perfectly aligned piece of patchwork and then had to hack it up to make a jacket I wouldn’t be seen dead in 😬

Patchwork is lovely as quilts or throws but not as garments, imho.

Roussette · 18/05/2022 21:14

This is REALLY hard.

I've done patchwork cushions decades ago but this is a whole other level

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:14

Yes. I'd not given any thought to where patchwork came from really.

Wolfcub · 18/05/2022 21:14

This is like one of the challenges on bake off which are deliberately impossible and therefore annoy me immensely

Halsall · 18/05/2022 21:15

X-posted with dillite. Great minds indeed!

dillite · 18/05/2022 21:15

4h and 15min is nowhere near enough time for this.

Agree they are horrid

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:15

Oh, they are hideous 😂😂 Truly hideous!

NutellaEllaElla · 18/05/2022 21:15

Same! Loved that history bit.

I have no idea how they did all of that in 4 hours. Amazing bunch.

This bias binding thing makes me think of a GCSE poem called 'Poppies'w written by textile designer Jane Weir. If ay of you have DCs who have done GCSE they will know - and possibly adore- Mr Sodding Bruff on YouTube. Who has not. one. clue. what yellow binding is. No idea why he didn't look it up.

Jellykat · 18/05/2022 21:16

Theyve done well, even though theyre hideous jackets
