TV adaptation of Graham Norton’s book Holding

I’ve read the book, and loved it.

I barely recognise this TV version - it is … odd.

A technicolour caricature of Irish characters with a pace that’s meant to show quirkiness, I think, but loses all the pathos and empathy of the novel.

I’ve switched off before the end of episode one, but wonder if I’m out of touch and missing something.

I wanted to love it but hated it! Such a shame, I love Graham Norton, love Ireland, love mysteries. I did finish it though but the caricature effect remains throughout unfortunately. Shame shame shame.
