My 13 yo dd1 is begging to watch this but its rated 15. She has all the books and loves them.

Should I let her watch it? What about my 10 yo dd2?

If you've seen it, why do you think it's been rated 15? I know there is a suicide theme in it. Anything else to be concerned about?

Not seen it. But my DD is also 13 and has read the book. She says she wants to watch it. (She watched squid game without me knowing FFS.) I knowingly would let her watch a 15, but not an 18. If she's read the book then she knows what it's about anyway; just keep an open dialogue with her about the 'issues'.

Thanks for your reply.

I've been reading some of the online reviews. One says it's ike The Breakfast Club but with murder! I've told her I will have to sit and watch it with her now as that was one of my favourite films as a youth 😁

She hasn't watched Squid Game AFAIK. Just have to find time to do it when dd2 not about now!

yeah, I wouldn't let a 10 year old anywhere near a 15 rated show. There's a big emotional maturity in the tween/teen years.

XelaM · 28/02/2022 22:09

I would let her watch it. It's not bad at all. Quite entertaining and no sex scenes or any extreme violence (bar the actual murder).

(I figured out who the murderer was pretty early on though)

jay55 · 28/02/2022 22:14

There's a little violence and some abortion talk.
And a distinct lack of decent parents Grin

I don't really like teen school series but l loved this . I don't think it was too bad really, a bit of sex , drug selling , drinking but l would definitely let my 13 yr old DD watch it . Not so sure about the 10 year old tbh but it depends on the 10 year old .

I would let my 13 year old watch it.

A warning though, from the reviews I’ve read online, people that loved the book have generally disliked the show because they’ve changed many things (for instance, Addy doesn’t have a sister on the show)

I haven’t read the book and enjoyed it.

Meredusoleil · 01/03/2022 12:12

Just to update this, I have let my dd1 watch it and she is saying the same as pp, that so many things have been changed from the books and they were better!

Watched the first episode with her and was thankful I didn't let the 10 yo watch too, as even the 13 yo was a bit 🤨 at some of the behaviour being shown!

Whats it like. I have watched two episodes but struggle to see how they can drag it out for 8 ??

I thought it was very good. Well acted and you really didn't know whodunnit until the very end .
