Is one of my favourite things in the whole wide world.

Is there a way to find out which episodes he's in?

Love the fact that he has pocket meat...not a euphemism. He was always the talented one in Vic and Bob!

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 04/02/2022 21:02

I have it on good authority that Bob Mortimer is thoroughly lovely in real life, too. One of my friends met him on a train soon after his heart surgery and he was really sweet, a bit fragile and chatted all the way into London with her.

His 'Train Guy' from Instagram makes me really laugh these days. Yah, yah.. Jeff Linton!

CrinklyCraggy · 04/02/2022 21:10

His stores are me wish I'd been his friend growing up

I ❤ him.

He comes from not too far away from me. He was in a local pub fairly recently. I missed him. (Probably for the best) Grin

And he loves cats 😊

He's wonderful

Wardrobes123 · 04/02/2022 21:17

Oh I love Bob Mortimer on WILTY. He is the funniest, warmest person and has me in stitches.

His tallest tales always end up being true - there was a spectacular one about how he caused a fire in his childhood home after playing with fireworks as a child!

To be fair I think he could talk you through the phone book and still be funny. It was through seeing him on WILTY that I watched the fishing show, it’s gentle but compelling, completely shows what nice people Paul and Bob are.

Bob is also very intelligent!

katienana · 04/02/2022 21:18

I once saw him looking at a lighting shop on Linthorpe Road and shouted hiya Bob. He waved. I was about 12...25 years ago!

HelloDulling · 04/02/2022 21:21

I love him. And I love how much he makes David M/Rob B etc laugh. He’s so very funny, and they are helpless.

shivabeaver · 04/02/2022 21:29

He offered to shag my sister back in the 90s (drunk at the time, probably married) I still like him, he has the anecdotes of anyone ever. If anyone is yearning for more watch his rhlstp episode on YouTube, it's great.

All us north-east coasters were shocked at the abuse given to Standard Fireworks! They even had their own advert in the 60's - light up the sky with Standard Fireworks - they were spectacular!

I should have said their own tv advert on itv!

CrinklyCraggy · 04/02/2022 21:38

I saw the Standard Fireworks thing for the first time this eve and right from the start I was thinking but Standard were the fireworks brand.

I couldn't agree more

He is just brilliant

givethatbabyaname · 04/02/2022 21:45

Another one who loves Bob on WILTY. The dynamic between DM/RB/LM and BM is just lovely: respect, appreciation, no showing off. Just letting Bob do his thing because he’s genuinely funny. He calms them all down with his sincere humour.

WatchMyChops · 04/02/2022 22:23

@waterlego

I mean, I still can’t really believe the dentistry one. Sometimes I think everything he says is a fib or massive exaggeration. Grin
Probably over exaggerating things, just like all the panelists do with their “true” stories. Still funny though! Xmas Grin

Kicked it up the moon's arse made me laugh out loud, thanks, @Juniper68! Have a cuppachoochoo on me!

Just love Bob Mortimer. He is an absolute treasure.

Gone Fishing with Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer is wonderful. The friendship they have is really moving.

Plus it's given me and DH the terms 'car meat' and 'pocket meat'.

UTB!!! Bob will be happy tonight 🔴⚽️

mrsfollowill · 04/02/2022 23:04

Oh love him! so funny and his outlandish stories on WILTY are so funny- the more 'extreme' the more likely it's true- laughs at himself all the time- and him and Paul Whitehouse have amazing chemistry on their fishing show - 'and away' as they always release their catch Grin

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 05/02/2022 01:18

Hilarious! Those clips were a wonderful way to finish the week! Thank you!

Yeah, that was my experience of him as well. Not a nice man and definitely not single.
Namechangeforthis88 · 05/02/2022 07:00

He told the story about the little pony in the house on Gone Fishing so that was plausible on WILTY. "And away" is a catchphrase in our house.

PrincessScarlett · 05/02/2022 20:59

I'm another one who has no interest in fishing but am just memorised by Bob and Paul and could listen to them for hours.
