I really loved it. I found it very moving. I've read the book several times, too.

It's a good reminder that after a global disaster, art, music and books still matter.

I was disappointed in it. I loved the book - one of my all time favourite novels, and I felt this missed so much of the book's story and subtlety. In the book, I remember the intense excitement when they see lights come on in the distance as some city has finally got them working again. It's right at the end and such a huge symbol of hope. (iirc) But they have electricity all the time in the TV series. And petrol to splash around and set fire to stuff, twenty years after the pandemic. Seemed unlikely.

The food and clothes thing didn't bother me. Elizabeth had her suitcases and there would have been lots of outlets at the airport.

And I guess there would have been a lot of food. If you raid all the supplies of all the homes in all the cities, that would keep you going for years and years, given how few people survived. They grew fresh stuff at the airport and Kirsten hunted deer for meat.

Although I said it was disappointing there were things I adored - the Travelling Symphony's costumes were out of this world. And the actress who played child Kirsten, Matilda Lawler, was mesmerising.
