Am enjoying this season so far, last night's episode had me on edge with the Florence undercover role and seeing the commissioner run was funny

Christ I can see the annoying sister taking too much screen time over the next episodes. IMDB hasnt helped much but wikipedia says shes episodes 5-8 so we have another 2 with her.

I am loving the return of glamourpuss Darlene. I absolutely loved her in previous series. Shes sassy. She was a bit flat in this episode but Im hoping she perks up a bit and becomes a good fit with Marlon and the rest of the team.

diddl · 08/02/2022 14:22

"so we have another 2 with her."

Groan!

Thinking about Darlene & the Commissioner though-Don Warrington is 70.

Maybe she'd be a better fit for Neville??!!Grin

jay55 · 08/02/2022 15:51

Did the sister just shout to everyone on the beach to come inside? How did she find so many people in no time at all.
I'll go and visit my brother and try and give him a heart attack. Maybe she's naked on his life insurance

Thought Izzy was funny at first - not sure now!

ThePontiacBandit · 13/02/2022 12:30

I love this show (even though it’s daft). Right, can anyone explain to me how the husband died in this episode? I watched it and tried to rewatch it and can’t work out what happened to him!

diddl · 13/02/2022 14:10

Drunk & fell into a canal?

ThePontiacBandit · 13/02/2022 17:41

Ah okay, so it was a red herring in the case? I’m quite tired and clearly didn’t take it all in.

diddl · 13/02/2022 20:25

Well I think I remember that being mentioned.

Whether it was just speculation?

I like DiP but do tend to only have watch to see who murdered who & why.

Don't tend to get al the detailsBlush

It was an accident. Because of Eva's phone call they re-examined his case in case it was Jonty that was murdered but it was a red herring.

Basically Jonty (the husband) had found out that Astrid wasn't his daughter and had made his wife Orla tell him who the father was. She told him it was his best mate Callum, Jonty called him and wanted to meet/confront him about the affair.

Callum didn't want his wife Eva to find out about his affair/daughter so told Jonty to meet him at the canal. He went to the agreed meeting place and Jonty didn't show up so he left. Days later the Guardai found his body in the canal a few meters away from the meeting place with massive amounts of alcohol in his system and a head injury that was consistent with him being drunk, falling, hitting his head, slipping into the water and drowning.

Have they run out of British guest stars and are going through all the Irish ones now? Grin

Well is a small island.

Not liking the Russian theme tonight.

Liking Darlene offering the "now dating" Neville a back rub.

Litthefirealready · 25/02/2022 22:14

Bit of a strange episode tonight. Different setting for the last one.

chillied · 25/02/2022 22:50

Any thoughts about the commissioner having a daughter?

PrincessScarlett · 25/02/2022 23:10

Did not enjoy the Commissioner getting jiggy in tonight's episode! And yes, the Russian poison plot was a bit too close to the line given what's happening at the moment.

melj1213 · 26/02/2022 10:11

For the last episode I'm this series it all felt a bit flat ... I mean I'm glad there was no romantic cliffhanger that ultimately went nowhere this time but it doesn't feel like it either fully rounded off this series but it also didn't set up the next one either.

It wasn't terrible but it was just a bit underwhelming

BreakfastOfWaffles · 26/02/2022 10:16

I agree that there wasn't much to hang the start of the next series on. I wish we had seen Neville about to go on a date or something like that, or the Commissioner's daughter boarding a plane.

StColumbofNavron · 26/02/2022 10:18

All the cases this series were a bit too far fetched. I feel like Naomi gets more screen time than Marlon and she just isn’t interesting enough yet. This is the one programme that kids will sit and watch with us (teens) and just silly, sunny and no effort.

PrincessScarlett · 26/02/2022 10:26

Oh I didn't realise it was the last one, definitely didn't feel like the last one. Agree re Naomi getting too much screen time. They're turning her into the new Camille/Florence aren't they. Marlon is great.

chillied · 26/02/2022 16:01

I'd be happy to have a change of detective from Neville now. But Florence was weaker than Camille and Naomi is weaker than Florence so I don't really know what they can do there, except maybe start to give Naomi some deeper storyline.

Riverlee · 26/02/2022 16:42

I like Neville as the detective and rate him as one of the top two (with Humphrey).

Naomi always seems too young to me. Camille and Florence were older. I quirpte like ex-nurse though.

The Russian storyline was a bit of an unfortunate coincidence.

I thought last night had a better plot line than some of the episodes this series.some of the plots have been a bit weak this series.

The commissioner having an ex-wife. Did we know about that?I thought we saw him with family at an earlier episode, but maybe I was wrong.

RaraRachael · 27/02/2022 17:13

I like Neville, now that they've ditched his irritating fears and allergies. I almost stopped watching when Humphrey was in charge as his bumbling and ineptness just wasn't realistic (and I've never like Kris Marshall in anything). The newbies are all growing on me - so glad they got rid of the dreadful Ruby.

I thought the final episode was a bit boring, but then chess IS boring and as a PP poster said, could have done without the aged inspector having had a night of passion. Realistically he would have retired long ago!

SoupDragon · 27/02/2022 17:17

I spotted the different hold on the chess piece! I was SO proud of myself 😂 I don't think I've ever got the murderer that early (or possibly at all) before.

SoupDragon · 27/02/2022 17:18

Neville has improved since the first series. That fact that they've stopped referencing his ridiculous allergies has helped.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 27/02/2022 19:31

Oh yes, I am so pleased they have dropped the allergy gubbins. It really detracted from the plots and wasn't at all creative or interesting (plus had been done before with Ben Miller).

SpacePotato · 27/02/2022 20:21

I like Marlon but he's no JP.
Neville has improved. Catherine is fabulous as always.
Naomi seems too young to be replacing Florence but I bloody love the clothes they have picked for her.

There's no way Florence would ever go near Neville. He's just a bit too pathetic.

No one needed to see Selwyn in a dressing gown. 😂 makes me shudder every time he flirts with Darlene, who always looks amazing!
