Dream home makeovers with Sophie Robinson

Anyone watching?

I feel like £500 to update a bedroom is not a "tiny budget". And she has only bought paint!

And then the other couple who have given her £18000 to decorate their bog standard house. Shock

The paint for my bedroom was probably £30, if you also include priming and glossing the woodwork Grin

Yes really like ep4, although I kinda felt there was a slight missed opportunity to not connect better between the bedroom/balcony and living room/terrace at the riverside house, although that could have been budget or personal choice that they didn’t want to incorporate their outside spaces, but really both rooms were all about the view and there was direct access, for example could have taken the same colours or structures to the outside spaces and made it almost seamless. Also - the wallpaper in the bedroom - was it part of the design that you could clearly see each join between the segments of wallpaper?

Enjoyed the Essex Indian-flavoured house as well, it was all quite subtle really for Sophie, colour wise, which was interesting to see.

The budgets are still a little dispiriting though; £700 each to reupholster those chairs! Yes they might last yadda yadda, I’m not saying a skilled upholsterer isn’t worth paying properly, it’s just this kind of level of makeover isn’t accessible to most people watching, it’d be nice if we had more in the mid budget range rather than tens of thousands being spent. I guess this is “dream” home makeovers though!

Overall am enjoying seeing Sophie do her thing each week. Would really recommend The Great Indoors podcast to anyone who likes this show.

Anyone watching? Two nice houses again.

Loved the little Victorian cottage makeover and the kitchen of the bigger house with its green and yellow paintwork… BUT the dining room went very pub and the sitting room looked like a huge caravan/mobile home after the makeover.. it was just how it changed the way you saw those wonderful bay windows.. I am amazed as I normally love Sophie’s work!!!

Agree, I really didn't like the lounge or dining room in the bigger house. I think it was the shade of green.
Loved the kitchen though. Might be my favourite so far 😍

I thought this week was best yet. The kitchen was lovely. I really liked the dining room! But then I am a sucker for anything purple, that’s my thing. I didn’t think pub at all!

Love tonight's, the girls bedroom was so lovely 😍

louise5754 · 24/02/2022 15:11

Who pays for this?

£300 wallpaper / £100 cushions.

I've enjoyed it but wish it was more relatable.

Haven’t seen this weeks yet, but I would, for the right stuff. Lots of people would, House of Hackney/Timorous Beasties etc trade off it!

Sophie talked about this on her recent podcast. It is unrelatable for most of us to spend this much in one go on a room makeover. But we might do the same gradually a bit at a time, or take inspiration from this but choose similar styles from more budget friendly outlets. It is fair to say I think that the way it is done on tv, is more interesting to watch than real life where we paint one wall one weekend and then buy a new cushion from Dunelm next month, etc.

MichaelAndEagle · 24/02/2022 17:54

Totally!
I also use it for inspiration and then look for cheaper alternatives.

I loved this week's kitchen but it did seem to be at the expense of grown-up space (which was also lovely, but small).

Mind you, I don't really get the notion of families hanging out together in one space Grin. It would drive me crazy: I'd be constantly tidying and cleaning.

Attic bedroom client seemed happy with hers too (although I'd have to invest in a potty to deal with the nighttime trips to the loo. In blush pink obviously.Wink.
