Just finished the 2 series of motherland on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it as an easy watch. Can anyone recommend another similar British tv show? I can't get into a lot of the American ones.

Workin Moms - Canadian rather than American. We started watching as something to have on in the background, now we’re hooked!

notawittyname1954 · 25/01/2022 18:52

I second Gameface

pompomseverywhere · 25/01/2022 18:54

The Let Down is Australian (Netflix) and bloody fantastic. Dare I say, better than Motherland.

Wotagain · 25/01/2022 18:56

The Letdown
It’s Australian and on Netflix, I think

Wotagain · 25/01/2022 18:57

@pompomseverywhere Great minds Grin

plantastic · 25/01/2022 18:58

Yes I was also going to mention The Let Down. It's brilliant.

olivehater · 25/01/2022 19:01

I second working moms. Even though not British. Canadians are bit more like Brit’s than Americans aren’t they?
I didn’t really like the let down, the Australian one. Found the characters as bit whiny and dull.

Motherland has a 3rd series. Not sure if someone said that. And it had an Xmas special!
Nocutenamesleft · 25/01/2022 19:04

@Kerzel

I loved Breeders, although the last few episodes are 💔
Breeders was epic!!
30not13 · 25/01/2022 19:06

I know it's American but Life in Pieces on prime is 👌

NinaProudman2022 · 25/01/2022 19:09

Catastrophe is brilliant just binged that one and don’t know know how in earth we missed it. Love Sharon Horgan and her style.

Not the same but quite funny once you get past the first couple of episodes is an Australian drama Offspring (quite a funny extended adult family lots of episodes and much less episodes another Australian one Five bedrooms if they are both still on about adults sharing a house).

MariWhee · 25/01/2022 19:40

Two Doors Down on iPlayer is superb

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/01/2022 19:43

Another vote here for Workin' Moms, it's brilliant. Canadian rather than American and very funny

sweatervest · 25/01/2022 19:45

mandy
.

the deborah meaden episode is legendary (in my brain, anyway)

plus yes brilliant to working moms. i love it and they churned loads out and it was fabulous.

foxlover47 · 25/01/2022 19:46

Mandy on iplayer is quite funny and has dianne Morgan in it ( I think that's her name who plays Liz in motherland )

foxlover47 · 25/01/2022 19:47

@sweatervest great minds !! My fave was the dancing to rod Stewart so you think I'm sexy to the old fellas 🤣

cherrycoke7 · 25/01/2022 19:49

Brilliant thanks for all the suggestions, I'll work my way through them. I didn't realise there was a series 3 of motherland so I'm very grateful it was mentioned!

Working Mom's is excellent

Pinkcoat126 · 25/01/2022 19:55

There’s a 3rd season on bbc iplayer of motherland :)

decafforme · 25/01/2022 19:58

Uncle

Different scenario, but good humour

RaininSummer · 25/01/2022 20:02

The Middle and Atypical are both great despite being American. I don't like American series usually other than Frasier.

Doubleraspberry · 25/01/2022 20:06

I love how many of the series being recommended on this thread are written and led by women. It feels like there's been a breakthrough in recent years of female-dominated comedy. The Other One and Alma's Not Normal have been highlights for me.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 25/01/2022 20:11

I second life in pieces on prime. It’s fabulous & we’ve watched it at least twice!

MrsJamin · 25/01/2022 20:15

Don't watch breeders, it was horrendous and not funny at all. Just "parents" swearing at children.
