The Apprentice has become a caricature of itself

Anyone else really annoyed at how ridiculous The Apprentice has become?

If you look back at clips from previous seasons, they had people who were actually competent, of various ages and backgrounds, who wore normal clothing. They worked together as a team and actually aimed to produce something decent - rather the trying to sabotage each other at every opportunity.

Also recently the method of the programme makes no sense. Split the groups and expect them to come up with a coherent marketing, with no communication between them? Do customer research AFTER the products are finalised? Its just stupid, of course the stuff they come up with is crap.

The fact that the sub team only seem to get a rushed 30 second phone call with the other half of the team with no chance of a call back or later call is almost as unbelievable as not being able to Google stuff on their phones.

Yeah, "this is what we are doing, gotta go, bye!". This week someone was about to ask a question when they got hung up on - why wouldn't you just phone them back!?

Elizabeth was one of my favourites. The episode where they filmed a car advert in a Norman village with the chickens was a classic.

Lemonweightloss · 22/01/2022 12:13

@DockOTheBay, exactly. They're just setting them up for failure. I'd like to think this makes for good TV but I'd actually like to see them produce/ create something great. The AF drinks market for example is a brilliant opportunity for entrepreneurs. I'd have liked to see more creativity. The market is crying out for a decent AF wine ; it's so hit n miss.

I liked her until she behaved appallingly towards the male models. Repulsive and wouldn’t have been acceptable if a man had done it to female model.

It seems that nowadays it's just full of young influencer wannabe's. There's a complete lack of diversity or ages in this series. Felt like an episode of Mad Men seeing the woman doled up everyday with perfect hair, all wearing the same shift dresses and plastic heels. Just really disappointing.

I am still enjoying the classic tasks but I just think most contestants are using this programme as a stepping stone to be social media influencers.

I also think that Nick is an absolute knob and can't wait for him to be fired. Aaron or Alex for the win.

Hated Navid stereotyping women. What a twit.

Yes! Considering he's possibly gay, I found it astonishing that he was using terminology like "she's a very silly girl" (or something similar...)
Maireas · 22/01/2022 14:38

I know! "You know what women are like when they get together!"
Good grief.

Adatwistscientist · 22/01/2022 15:08

Can you imagine living with these people. I think that alone would make me quit the process. They'd all be sitting around spraying on their bodycon dresses whilst I'd be hiding in the loo mumsnetting

Possibly gay?!?!?

I can't imagine he's that good a businessman if he's about his personal life...

I know someone who went to the audition and got down to the final 20, the line up of attractiveness was true, this was the point at which they decided not to take part because of the awful attitudes by the other candidates. Apparently the entire audition takes one day and there is no food or drink supplied.

She looks and sounds absolutely digusted with him. Like he is the most annoying creature ever.

His sweet but his "ex" is a bitch. Horrible person, didn't even seem like she wanted to even be there.
mycatisannoying · 23/01/2022 12:37

I cringe at Sir Alan's dad jokes, and the forced fake laughter that follows!
@Bagadverts dh and I said this about last night’s contestants talking about their “business ideas”. Extending their current businesses is hardly innovative or exciting - surely he’s looking for new innovations to back not just dull expansions Confused.
I thought a couple of them who had won already had their own small businesses? The plumber and the the cake maker?

I can't imagine he's that good a businessman if he'sthis slow in the uptakeabout his personal life...

I feel a bit bad for him there....Blushalthough I did agree with her that if they had never kissed/held hands and presumably no sexual activity for 4 years, then they probably are just friends. But the way she spoke to him was brutal Why are they talking about an "ex" if they are still friends , but it was never more than that? Confused

I assumed it was because he was a Muslim....

AKASammyScrounge · 23/01/2022 22:17

I loved the kosher chicken trip to Morocco
and the Jewish lad who didn't know what kosher was.
I continue watching because this show throws up crazy scenes like that every now and then.

BronwenFrideswide · 23/01/2022 22:51

I remember the series with Katie Hopkins when they went to a French Market to sell English products and the numpty male project leader bought that awful mass produced cheese that comes in a block wrapped in plastic from a low cost warehouse type shop to to sell at a French MarketShock. His team failed the task (unsurprisingly) and he was fired.

Strictlyfanoftenyears · 24/01/2022 09:25

I think next weeks task looks completely unfair to anybody. Going on a boat fishing in the sea, OMG. (Even if you dont get seasick!)

I don’t see that at all, she just isn’t putting up with shit about them being a couple when they weren’t. And being clueless about her having been a vegetarian for the last decade or so.
