ooooooh, only 20 mins in and am excited beyond belief. Harriet Walters is masterly, Emilia Fox a pleasant surprise as usuallly i find her a posho show-off.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

On in a wee while. Can't wait, have just re-read the book.

NKF · 26/12/2007 19:00

I thought it was on later.

FlllightAttendant · 26/12/2007 19:02

Aitch I can't remember what your Christmas name was, it was really good, can you remind me please!

Am going to watch ballet shoes later. Glad you lot reminded me.

southeastastra · 26/12/2007 19:08

i'll watch it but i can't understand why they're showing it so late. it's a children's story isn't it?

Aitch · 26/12/2007 20:34

it's on now

too bad DH is watching this dumb ass film the now.

DarrellRivers · 26/12/2007 20:56

recording for future enjoyment all alone...

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 21:00

hoping it shows up on YouTube at one point.

i forgot to record it and this stoopid Nicholas Cage film he is watching - is there any other sort if he's in it? - is lasting an aeon.

Aitch · 26/12/2007 21:04

hoxtonchick · 26/12/2007 21:11

i'm sure petrova should have short silky hair. but am very much enjoying it.

vitomum · 26/12/2007 21:30

Aitch, can i borrow your copy of it tomorrow pleeease? [shows off that knows Aitch in RL]

MyEye · 26/12/2007 22:09

oh this was so good, big thanks bbc, I must re-read the book
I let dd 6 stay up and watch it, she was burning with with pleasure throughout, just lovely to see

WendyWeber · 26/12/2007 22:10

Well yes, it was fab, but they made stuff up!!!

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:11

Aitch has a copy?

Erm, Aitch, are you free for a quick coffee, say, Friday?

That vitomum character should be finished with it by then and all?

And I've got a day all to myself, in Glasgow, ALONE!

OOOOOOO. Already have a list of shops I'm going to visit.

Bliss, pure fecking bliss!

Snaf · 26/12/2007 22:12

Ohhh, loved it and cried at the end, like the girlie saddo I am.

Have been trying to dig out my old copy of the book but have so far unearthed only Watership Down, Jock of the Bushveld (fgs) and two, yes two! identical copies of Black Beauty. I don't even like animals.

Quattrocento · 26/12/2007 22:12

I don't remember any love interest in Ballet Shoes ... It was fab though and even DS loved it. He initially refused to watch it on the grounds that it was for and about girls

expatinscotland · 26/12/2007 22:12

This fecking Nicholas Cage film really is going to last forever.

I cleaned the kitchen, did the coffee, put the chicken in the slow cooker, cleaned the worktops.

They are still sitting in front of this ridiculous excuse for a film.

Snaf · 26/12/2007 22:13

Ah, but they got the black dress with the white collar and Winifred's faded blue velvet off to a tee.

Scramble · 26/12/2007 22:13

I am recording it, will my 8yrold dance mad DD like it or too old for her???

TenLordsaLapin · 26/12/2007 22:13

Oh I loved it

What did they make up, remind me please? It was so long ago since I read the books!

Quattrocento · 26/12/2007 22:15

They made up the love interest - from memory Mr Smith didn't appear until later and I think he was married.

Quattrocento · 26/12/2007 22:16

Anyhow he certainly didn't marry Garnie at the end of the book.

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2007 22:17

oh aitch am not reading thread as don't want to spoil it all just in case I get chance to watch it

you didn't happen to record it did you????

edam · 26/12/2007 22:18

It was lovely. And Snaf is right about the dresses, v. well done.

Love interest presumably added to suit today's audiences, in the book Mr and Mrs Simpson both lived with the Fossils.
