Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

OP posts:

FinnRussell I'd forgotten that! Like father, like son.

katienana · 13/04/2022 07:10

If anyone is any doubt that This Is Us is an emotional watch, I ended up watching the second half of the episode with my 9 and 6 year old ds's today. They got quite engrossed in it because of toddler Jack (how brilliant was the child actor) and when he got out of the house became so worked up that my 6 year old burst into tears when he was about to fall. He eventually calmed down but I will probably watch it alone from now on!

Love the flash forwards this week

Love the flash forwards this week
I’m just under 9 minutes in and have just gone “oooooh!”
FinnRussell · 14/04/2022 09:59

Fab episode. So glad Toby is ok.

MadisonAvenue · 14/04/2022 10:12

Really enjoyed that one.

Promo for next week

GastroNuisance · 14/04/2022 11:59

Oh wow! That looks amazing!!

diddl · 14/04/2022 13:48

Bit sad that Miguel is standing alone in the wedding pic!

Uafasach · 14/04/2022 13:53

Finally some answers! So little has actually happened in the last few episodes.

I am completely Team Toby - Kate seemed to think they could live on fresh air as long as they were near her family and she got to pursue her (non-paying) passion. When Toby said he would SF to take the job in LA, she agreed immediately and then ignored him being miserable in his new job.

Toby was right about the comparisons with Jack. The Pearsons would be a nightmare to marry into.

PerditaNitt · 14/04/2022 14:11

What a great episode! The flash forwards were what I have been waiting for.

I haven’t cried much in this series, but this episode had me weeping watching their marriage break down. - absolutely heartbreaking and so perfectly done. And a more realistic way to show a relationship ending - a whimper not a bang.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 14/04/2022 14:44

All caught up on a few episodes. just finished the ‘Katoby’ episode. Really enjoyed the previous episode about Jack. The child actor who is toddler Jack is incredible and the story from his POV was very well done.

Not a spoiler as we’ve already seen the wedding day in a flash forward, but I find the Kate and Phillip wrap up a bit too convenient. Defo feel more team Toby, I think they’ve not reflected Kate growing up in these closing episodes- she seems still very young/bit stubborn if that makes sense? All a bit rushed to have her suddenly with Phillip. Anyone else remember how much they clashed when she first started working at the school. They really grew ‘Katoby’ over the seasons, but sort of ended them without effort. The family moving to SF would have fitted them better, reflected how much they’ve changed their lives for the better just being with each other (Toby’s previous depression etc).

But hey, maybe I’m completely overthinking itHmm
How many episodes to go for this final season? It’s not the last next week is it?

diddl · 14/04/2022 16:41

I agree that it would have been nice if they stayed together.

So-Beth & Randall been together since college, Kate on 2nd marriage-Kevin stays single?

I did feel for Toby.

When he said that Kate was late again-I agreed with him-you can be polite to people & say that you have an appointment.

Kids (I hope) won't get treated better because you don't always have time to chat to the teacher for as long as they want!

I was glad when he said that she made him miserable!

Maybe though she didn't ever make hm happy & he was too bogged down with other stuff to realise?

Loopytiles · 14/04/2022 18:53

I think Toby was mainly to blame, he has 2 DC with additional needs and could’ve got a local job.

AnnesBrokenSlate · 14/04/2022 19:05

This was one of my favourite episodes of this series. It showed how all the little issues as well as the big ones, add up. I'm glad Toby moved back and they went to counselling. At least they tried to fix it in a few different ways before splitting up.

The KaPhillip relationship feels underwhelming. We had so many seasons seeing Katoby develop so KaPhillip seems slight by comparison.

Pl242 · 14/04/2022 19:36

There’s going to be more of Kate and Phillip’s engagement party for sure. No way would the actress playing Sophie just show up for a non speaking part. Also feel it’s very strange that there has been no more about Hailey’s adoption too.

Praxoulla007 · 14/04/2022 19:52

Fantastic episode. I am team Toby here. Funny how when he spoke about Jack Pearson and that he could never live up to him that Kate immediately then decided to get out of the marriage. It was as though it was exactly what Toby was getting at - that she would never stop putting her family above their own. Kevin had been living with them for ages and he's so wealthy. Really enjoyed the episode. So nice to see Toby happy with his new partner and noticed his shiny new wedding ring in the final part of the episode when they all went to see Jack's concert.

Yeah, that’s what I meant about them moving to SF too- if they’d done that it would have closed the circle, Kate choosing her own family over the legacy of Jack Pearson. Finally cutting the strings. I thought it could have been linked back to Rebecca’s speech about living their own lives, having the adventures, etc.
Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2022 21:59

No one mentioned Maddison’s bump at engagement party. she’s preg !!

E12 was fab. Prob one of the best this series

Gave me a tingle.

Weird even tho twins and hailey share a birthday. I never thought of them as the new big 3

Jack and Hayley about 3&2 when split up

And then maybe jack is 7/8 when gets engaged so around 4/5yrs in future

I don’t think that’s rushed

Lovely Toby found someone who makes jokes so his sense of humour

Older jack is very sexy

Such a shame they don’t do s7 and continue with the new big 3 and jack growing up

And the twins new sibling

Madison was alone wasn’t she at jacks singing

neveradullmoment99 · 14/04/2022 22:29

I think we found a lot of answers in this episode but the constant jumping back and forward to the future and less into the future was pretty annoying.
I am so gutted about Kevin and Madison. There is no hope now of them getting together with her being pregnant.
I do wonder who he will end up with. Looks like he is going through a phase of dating a ton of people!
I really do not like Kate's new husband. I don't think he fits with her. I cannot get by his accent. Just sounds so 'put on' but I always think that with English accents in American settings.
Bring back lovely Toby. They were utterly fab together.

Cafog · 14/04/2022 22:59

Wait, Sophie was at the engagement party?! How did I miss that??!

pastabest · 14/04/2022 23:30

Madison was alone wasn’t she at jacks singing

She wasn't there was she? I assumed that was Jack's wife/ girlfriend?

Best episode of this series. Back on TIU form and I found myself getting tearful and not really being sure why like the old days.

I'm not a Philip fan and I assume he works better as a character in the US than he does in the UK where we know that is not what British men are always like.

Sophie being at the engagement party just again highlighted the weird co-dependent relationship between Kevin and Kate. Kevin's most serious relationships - the woman he married and the woman he had children with were both Kate's 'best friends'.

Netaporter · 14/04/2022 23:44

I loved this week’s ep! Plenty of forward flash and we’re back in the game!

EasterIssland · 15/04/2022 00:00

The woman at the concer isn’t she Hayley, his sister ?

Madison was at the bday party with the baby

What an emotional and difficult episode to watch. I can understand why they said it was difficult to be filmed. I’m not too invested in this kaphillip relationship neither
