Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

@XelaM

It was a bit "meh" for me. Randall is getting on my nerves. Kevin as usual is the only redeeming character. Maddie was totally nuts to have dumped him at the altar!

I would never have dumped Kevin at the alter but so glad she did, she knew he was settling for her, she has such high respect for herself to jilt him. I have a new found respect for her now. I'd have run down that aisle so fast to marry him 😍

enoughofthiscrap · 14/01/2022 17:43

@XelaM

Didn't Rebecca have friends when she was singing at the the bar? Until Jack punched one of her band members Grin

Also Migel's wife was her friend but they got divorced

Happylittlethoughts · 14/01/2022 19:33

Hmmm... I was fast forwarding again 👀it's a bit shit this series. Boringscenes, annoying people..I'll think I'll wait til they're all in and binge watch . Might be a better strategy for me .

XelaM · 15/01/2022 00:03

Malik looks about 14 and I can barely stomach that whole relationship. Also, I thought they've been having sex all this time. Pretty sure it was heavily implied in season 5, especially given that he has a kid.

Sally and Nicky at dinner were really disrespectful to her husband who I didn't think was bad at all. She didn't have to create a whole dramatic marriage scene in front of complete strangers and her ex from 50 years ago. Had she been married to Nicky, he probably wouldn't have been the perfect husband after 50 years either.

Nick was embarrassing but its his character and he doesn't do social norms so not surprising. I think it was highly inappropriate. I felt so sad for Nicky holding a torch for all these years. Sally was amazed by it and it drew everything out that was not working in her current relationship. It left me feeling a bit sad and empty but what a beautiful twist at the end. His journey drew him to. meet his wife in the future! Just beautifully scripted. I loved it.
Hellosunshiner · 15/01/2022 12:51

Obviously we aren't party to Sally's story with her husband but from what she said she'd let him slide taking her for granted too. I'm sure she could have spoken up sooner. Bad for her to throw him under the bus just because Nicky had turned up having idolised her for years, it's like she used Nicky for leverage. Obviously the message is everyone went bold, starting with Nicky, and the trip was meant to be about Nicky's discovering Sally, but it turned out to be more Sally discovering herself/her DH, but like her DH said it wasn't in the spirit of the conversation. Anyway... More Kevin is needed next episode. Smile

LatinforTelly · 15/01/2022 15:06

I thought Nicky was out of order stating at dinner that Sally had deflowered him back in the day - many partners would find that offensive, especially when they are seated at your dinner table having turned up as uninvited strangers.

Agree with this. At most you'd say you had a memorable night together, and even that is a bit near the knuckle. It was an impossible and v weird situation for Sally's husband.

I always v much liked Deja (when she described debating as "arguing in a room with strangers Grin) but this bit of the story just feels laboured. Agree Malik looks about 14 which is a bit offputting.

Randall more and more annoying as he gets more sanctimonious.

It's a shame becuase the first 3 or so series were beautifully crafted , I thought, but it all feels a bit strung out now.

BitterTits · 16/01/2022 19:49

I don't know why some if you bother watching it Grin I'll brook no criticism!

PrincessNutella · 17/01/2022 02:02

I guess I was wrong about Malik ditching his daughter. It's interesting how they kept the ex-girlfriend nice and bitchy (still a villain, even though she moved from Philly to Cambridge for no other reason than for his sake). I did enjoy the awkward dinner, although I thought for the most part that Sally's husband was pretty gracious to the unexpected guests. The talk Rebecca had with Sally was actually a good reminder of why Rebecca could use a few friends, and I was happy to see her salsa dancing with Miguel. I am very familiar with the word caboose, maybe it isn't used in UK as it is in the US?

PrincessNutella · 17/01/2022 02:04

Yup, caboose is a North American term. Do you all even have cabooses on your trains?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caboose

Motherdare · 17/01/2022 02:45

I’m not even sure we have a left falange tbh!

WoodenReindeer · 17/01/2022 05:38

Trains I've been on just have carriages and you can get on the last one it's no different....

I googled caboose st the time and apparently England used ti have something similar (brake carriage? Can't remember?) But not something I've ever known about!

It's strange when a key part of the plot is foreign to you! I kept wondering if it was the buffet car (not seen one of those in a long time either - do they still exist?) But happened to be at the back!

Was going to see the end car a "Thing." Or just for her and her dad?

Hellosunshiner · 17/01/2022 13:26

As a child (many years ago!) I used to live close to a freight train line (usually carrying many open trucks of stones or rubble), Anyway it always had a tiny little wooden carriage at the very back, which had an open door and usually some sort of little chimney on the top even though obviously it wasn't a steam train (I'm not that old!! Grin) Maybe it was a gas flue for the heating within the carriage. That carriage always had a guard in uniform, wearing a cap, usually smoking Smile I guess it would be called the caboose carriage but it was always just "the end one" to us and we'd wave at the man in the carriage....

Edit - I've just googled it and it was a "Break Van". So that's what I would know "the last carriage" as Grin

That’s on a plane 😂😂

Just found season 6 on Prime and watched the two episodes

No complaints from me-just pleased to see there is more of it!

Netaporter · 20/01/2022 10:46

Just watched the new episode - plenty of Kevin for this who were missing him 😉. And plenty of future Jack in an amazing house. Plus a future glimpse to provide clues as of why Kate’s marriage ends… was very good.

FrenchyQ · 20/01/2022 10:52

It was good to see future Jack, I don't think we've seen enough of him.

Hellosunshiner · 20/01/2022 12:11

Ooh sounds like a good one! Will be watching it soon, can't wait.

DaisyTheUnicorn · 20/01/2022 12:29

Yes to future jack! He's lovely. And a clue to what happened.

Love all the focus on dads and shared parenting and how tricky being a mum can be.

Housewife2010 · 20/01/2022 13:04

Loved today's episode. Cat Stevens on the soundtrack too! I hope Kevin doesnt end up with Cassidy. Madison has grown on me and I'd like them to end up together.
Anyone else find English accents jarring in US shows? The Music teacher doesn't sound right in this. Emily in Friends always sounded wrong too.

Totally, re accents. See also wotshername in Frasier.
MadisonAvenue · 20/01/2022 14:03

I want future Jack’s house!

SynchOrSwim · 20/01/2022 14:25

What does everyone think is going to happen with Kate and Toby? I'm sad that they don't end up together.

VanGoghsDog · 20/01/2022 14:48

Daphne!

XelaM · 20/01/2022 14:50

@SynchOrSwim Jack catches on fire (or something similar) and Kate goes mental? I really like Toby. It's a shame they didn't stay together.

I hope Kevin doesn't end up with Cassidy!!! Where is Sophie?!?!?!

Enough of this Deja and Malik story please! Don't Randall and Beth have two other kids to parent?!
