As there isn't a lot of traction on individual threads I thought I'd create a generic thread as most of us seem fond of a few.

Loving the New Jersey trailer released today. Teresa is back to her table crashing ways. She seemed so chilled on the ultimate girls trip as well !

Atlanta is worth watching, from the start

Campervan69 · 12/01/2022 22:07

Totally agree. Have given up on Jersey, utter staged boring shite.

Have just watched the first season of Miami. Wow. It's so colourful and vibrant. Fascinating to watch. Really enjoying it.

Larsa is completely unrecognisable she has changed her entire face and body with surgery.

Uptoongirl · 13/01/2022 08:30

@baggies Atlanta had some really good seasons at the start, then waned but the first maybe 4 seasons were great. Worth watching if only to see nene being hilarious before she became too aware and full of herself. Also Atlanta has one of my favourite ever scenes with sheree and the party planner.

Orpheline · 13/01/2022 09:10

For anyone missing LVP, try Vanderpump rules. At least she's appreciated on there.

Getmeoutta1ere · 13/01/2022 09:46

Just watched the new OC, do love a good drunk Emily and Gina, they pretty much carried last season after everyone got fired/left, very entertaining 😆

Great. On my last season of Potomac. Atlanta is next!

baggies · 13/01/2022 10:27

Re Miami. I watched it originally. Does it have a recap at the beginning or do I need to rewatch?

Orpheline · 13/01/2022 14:52

Miami doesn't have much of the original cast, so it's like a new show really. I might watch the old ones, simply because I liked them.

Uptoongirl · 13/01/2022 14:59

@baggies it doesn't have a recap but does have a few flash backs when needed. You can probably watch a short recap on Youtube, if not just google Alexia as she has the most complicated backstory. I love btw, her response to Adriana's comment about her ex's death whilst having sex with a man was very composed although she did say after she was surprised her friend would bring it up like that. I don't like Adriana, very attention seeking. I can't get on with the new girls, bar Martina Navratilovas wife but I think partly they just haven't been given enough introduction.

@happilybemused so good! I have now fallen down the youtube rabbit hole of 'best housewives moments'.

baggies · 13/01/2022 23:54

@Uptoongirl yep I'll YouTube it as it's so long since it was on. Was Adriana the one who married someone who was building a boat and she was hours late for the wedding reception?

TheOccupier · 17/01/2022 17:15

I have been binging on these recently and found some obscure RH locations that are definitely worth a watch if you have Hayu!

SALT LAKE CITY:
Loving this. But it has its own thread so won't get into it here.

MELBOURNE:
I love this, especially Gina and psychic Jackie, but S5 seems to have ended early. Disappointing.

SYDNEY:
Nobody fights like the Aussie housewives. Sadly Sydney was cancelled after series 1 for being too "nasty". Highly recommended.

DURBAN:
Fascinating but I haven't been able to watch much of it as unlike the other RH shows, it requires full attention - the ladies speak in their various native languages about half the time so you have to follow the subtitles. I think it's worth it though.

JERSEY (am up to S2 E3):
As always the whole thing just feels very vanilla. Isn't Jersey just quite a dull, quiet, villagey place to live, and therefore unlikely to be populated by interesting people? I feel like they're always going to struggle to get any real drama going here.

Can't believe Mia is still banging on about her modelling. Nobody cares.

Not impressed by Tessa's attempts to play the victim/claw her way to the moral high ground. Both she and her equally false and ovoid-looking daughter Tallia are surplus to requirements. I always feel sorry for the other daughter who seems to be required to participate in their scenes for the show without ever getting to speak, let alone a storyline. I'd rather that one had her own show.

Tessa's right about Margaret though - she is boring. Why does she have to speak so slooooooowly? And why does she use 20 words to say something that could be said in 2? And wasn't it weirdly tactless of the equally boring Ashley to take her to a pregnancy scan when Margaret's whole character in S1 was based on being terribly sad about not having children, and having very pampered dogs instead?

DUBAI:
Anyone know when this is starting? Looking forward to it.

Zoom101 · 17/01/2022 17:42

@Winniewonka

I have many fond memories of Jersey holidays as a child and so love the background views more than the drama. Am about halfway through the second series and my thoughts so far on the women Tessa and Margaret - two sides of the same coin, neither has the ability to see how unpleasant they can be in dishing out insults but then get so upset when the tables are turned. Both like to think that they are the Queen Bee of the group.

New Girls Sarha and Karen, what a refreshing change to any Housewives franchise. I really like Karen and I can't understand why she isn't getting more support from the others with the Margaret situation. She is absolutely right to say that Margaret's 'banter' is inappropriate as Margaret doesn't know her yet and I too see it as little jibes and dogs at Karen. Also, she isn't doing the same thing to Sarha (maybe because she sees a future property sale!)
Kate - she's like someone out of a Carry On film
Ashley and Mia - role reversal for this series
I mentioned looking at the background and has anyone else noticed Heidi(?), one of the former housewives. I'm sure it's her in a red dress at the casino night and also at the baby gender reveal I think she's part of the large group of guests who turn up. It's a bit blurry but Tessa definitely goes over to greet her.
I am amazed the editors didn't notice the older guy who toppled off his tall chair when everyone was at the Jersey Ball or whatever it was when they were all sitting out on a large lawn awaiting to see who turned up in their fancy cars.
It looked like a genuine accident and his friend his desperately try to help him up!

It was Jonno (Margret’s friend, I think, from them1st series) that fell off the stool/chair. After someone flashed those bum in the background in series 1, I’m guessing that no-one at the film company checks things overly carefully!

Hedi has left Jersey (for now) as she got so much abuse from Series 1.

On a separate note, I think Tessa:is trying to land a Kartrashians-style TV show for her family as she is always promoting them and refers to herself as Momangaer. Vile woman and I have gave up watching the series after episode 2 as they are mostly really vile.

Like @ImInStealthMode I too, have lost all respect for Kate since her drunk driving incident.

Yes, Jersey is showing itself to be beautiful and I feel incredibly lucky to live here but RHOJ is doing us no favours and I just hope people don’t think we’re all like that! 😃

I started this thread because individual franchises get little fraction.

It is a generic thread, please do comment on any franchise.

Thank you @happilybemused I think it is a great idea to have a general thread! Also the ideal place to discuss ULTIMATE GIRLS TRIP!

LuckyMeISeeGhosts · 17/01/2022 21:00
@Uptoongirl
I love that moment.

Definitely up there with the fight between Kim Z and Sheree outside of that restaurant Grin.

LuckyMeISeeGhosts · 17/01/2022 21:01

@Orpheline

Atlanta is worth watching, from the start
Agreed. Love it.

Season six was my absolute favourite.

Uptoongirl · 17/01/2022 21:57

@LuckyMeISeeGhosts yes, with Lindsay Lohan's dad randomly there, brilliant. Also, I think season 2 when Phadrea tried to convince everyone her doctor was recommending for her to give birth at 6months so she could pretend she concieved in wed-lock. I might have to rewatch the earlier seasons, I think it went off the boil with the Portia's accusations to Kandi and then they were forced to be in the next season together. Made for uncomfortable and unrealistic watching (I know they all have feuds and still have to jolly together but this was another level).

happilybemused · 18/01/2022 14:35

Completely agree, the early seasons of Atlanta had some classic moments.

Kim driving around in her Porsche drinking wine from a wine glass, Sheree 'who gonna check me boo'

Big Poppa turning out to be married.

Mr Lindsay Lohan Daddy take yo ass back to Malibu. Brilliant 🤩

I only recently learned that Phaedra's Mr Chocolate who she was being unfaithful with was non other than Gizelle's husband from Potomac

OP posts:
baggies · 18/01/2022 23:13

Just finished watching all 6 seasons of Potomac. I wasn't sure to begin with after just watching all seasons of New York but absolutely loved it.
Will wait a couple of days then start Atlanta.

happilybemused · 19/01/2022 18:51

@baggies I love Potomac. Gizelle and Karen are an equal match which is so much funnier to watch than when it verges on bullying. They have a real sibling love/ hate relationship.

The fact that Karen had beef with Gizelle for 4 years because Ray had basically told Gizelle she better get married before she lost her looks.

I want Ray to live. I want Ray to pay his bills😂

Atlanta is brilliant but it does look really dated/ not as glossy as later franchises at the start. Bit like early OC. Well worth watching though

I was just thinking about that earlier (sad life!) Kandi truly is such a forgiving person when it comes to Porsha. Though, i'm not sure if her and Phaedra have ever reconciled...

happilybemused · 19/01/2022 19:26

@LuckyMeISeeGhosts Having recently watched season 10 of Atlanta I completely agree.

(started watching Atlanta after the Ultimate Girls trip because didn't understand Kenya and Cynthia's friendship)

To have Porsche back that season was complete madness. When everyone refuses to film with you and/or stages a confrontation just didn't work.

I had never watched a single episode of Real Housewives before lockdown. It is my sole lockdown achievement.
