Can anyone think of some? Seinfeld is shaping up pretty well so far.

Still think Fresh Prince is funny.
Still love Fawlty Towers and The Office (the un PC things aside which clearly haven't aged well)

My favourite Fawlty Towers scenes are Mrs Richards and the whole room with a view thing and I love the Germans one especially the fire drill scene Grin

"Serenity now!"

That's my favourite episode (think it's actually called 'Anytown USA')

That phrase never gets old - in my opinion, I probably say it or think it most days in this house.

I always thought Jerry, Elaine and even George were awful people, but I think that's the point. Re watched every episode over lockdown and there was a lot that wouldn't fly nowadays but still some brilliant episodes.
Kramer is still a hottie. Yes, that's what I said! 😁

Willowcat77 · 06/12/2021 20:09

All of Graham Linehan's comedies are still really funny. Especially The IT Crowd and Black Books. I wish he'd write a new sitcom. Does anyone know if he's still writing?

I still like The Mighty Boosh, The League of Gentlemen and anything with Julia Davies, especially Nighty Night.

I think all of these comedies have aged well because they are so strongly character based. Who could ever forget Roy, Moss, Jenn and Richmond? 😀

LadyEloise1 · 06/12/2021 20:10

Father Ted - the one with Graham Norton dancing in the caravan. 😂😂😂

BiscuitLover3679 · 06/12/2021 20:13

I adore fawlty towers but it definitely has not aged well!!

Obviously Fawlty towers, agree there are so many lines.

Also love Father Ted and it hasn't aged.

Ducksurprise · 06/12/2021 20:15

Fawlty towers has aged much better than the majority of programmes shown at the time.

BiscuitLover3679 · 06/12/2021 20:15

@thesockfromtheroof

Frasier Friends Big Bang Only fools King and Queens

I'm sure there are others

A lot of these have aged terribly - some worse than others! The sexism is so cringey. I never really liked the sleaziness of big bang. Friends I still love bar some awful moments.

There's a lot of casual sexism in all which makes it less funny and clever.

I still love Father Ted, but also The Vicar of Dibley. Kids also love The Vicar of Dibley, especially the Christmas episodes Grin.

BiscuitLover3679 · 06/12/2021 20:16

I'm assuming you haven't watched the full versions!!

The Golden Girls

DarkDarkNight · 06/12/2021 20:19

My answers are the first 2 in the thread. Both are sublime. Similarly Curb Your Enthusiasm is on series 11. It’s basically the same situations over and over but still funny.

I loved One Foot In The Grave but it’s never repeated much these days. But rewatching a few years ago it was still funny.

321zyx · 06/12/2021 20:19

Another vote for Dad's Army (and Blackadder)

thistimelastweek · 06/12/2021 20:19

It's sn unfortunate truth but comedy doesn't travel well.

Not even Dad's Army

KirkstallAbbess · 06/12/2021 20:23

Early Doors
Curb Your Enthusiasm

I disagree on Fawlty Towers, it makes me cringe now, not in a good way.

Iknownothing · 06/12/2021 20:23

Outnumbered - the early series - not the later Christmas specials which seem too contrived

ForAFriend123 · 06/12/2021 20:28

@LadyEloise1

Father Ted - the one with Graham Norton dancing in the caravan. 😂😂😂
Agreed! Never tire of watching that episode Grin
Builtthiscityonsausagerolls · 06/12/2021 20:30

I loved OFAH but the early ones haven't aged well at all. There's a whole episode where they mistakenly go into a gay club. Lots of 'backs against the wall' jokes.

CallipygousElephant · 06/12/2021 20:39

Black Books! Recently rewatched - still great.

Libertaire · 06/12/2021 20:50

Another vote for Yes Minister / PM. I recently re-watched the episode in which PM Hacker appoints a senior doctor as Health Secretary. The new minister then proposes unthinkably radical (by 1970s standards) measures to cut smoking, eg banning advertising, sponsorship & ‘increasing the tax until a packet of 20 costs the same as a bottle of whisky’.

Humphrey is apoplectic & tries to block this as he gets lavish hospitality at his favourite sporting & cultural events because his mates are on the board of ‘British Tobacco’. It’s both hilarious and unbelievably prescient.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/12/2021 20:52

Father Ted.
IT Crowd.
Dinnerladies.

I'd like to see Ever Decreasing Circles again, I remember loving it but I've never seen a repeat.

Crimeismymiddlename · 06/12/2021 20:57

Fraiser, Seinfeld, One Foot in the Grave-the frozen cat and the glass stuck to forehead episodes never fail to make me die laughing. Father Ted, peep show and Curb Your Enthusiasm, although still going did start 20 years ago could be considered classic comedy.

TheCreamCaker · 06/12/2021 21:01

I absolutely love Frasier, Each character is so witty, interesting and likeable, and some of the lines Niles has are hilarious.
