What can we watch on Netflix - just signed up

Okay, so I am really late to the Netflix party but I've just had a work promotion and thought 'stuff it, people are always talking about things on Netflix' and DD8 was borrowing my BFriend's login for some of the childrens programmes, so I signed up today.

Please can you help with must see recommendations! I've tried to set out our likes and dislikes below. I suppose I'm looking for TV more than films.

DH said he'd never heard of anything he wanted to watch on there so I would like to find things for him. He likes sport (football, cricket and F1 mainly) and music eg he is watching the new Beatles marathon programme on Disney+ at the moment. He isn't really into action stuff.

I like Disney/marvel/action films and TV, documentaries nothing really scary (so not Squid Game!). My BFriend has ordered me to watch Selling Sunset which does look fun and I want to watch Red Notice.

DH and I haven't watched any TV series in ages - we have got into a total rut and tend to watch live football (I like watching it too), Midsomer Murders or sometimes things on Sky Arts (the free channel, we don't have Sky TV). Someone else has recommended the Queen's Gambit so I might try him out on that.

DD8 has just discovered she can watch all the She Ra seasons, Miraculous and the new MLP film plus something called H2O (mermaids?) so she is happy.

DD13 likes Marvel but tends to play games on his phone more than watch TV (and we are watching Hawkeye together) so if there is anything you think he really would love, please suggest but otherwise he is probably covered by Disney+. Oh, anything car related would be good.

Thank you massively in advance Flowers

Just want to put a word in for Korean dramas and Chinese dramas which I’ve really enjoyed on Netflix. Of course you might not like foreign language/subtitles, but if you want to explore, I’ve enjoyed Crash Landing on You- a Korean romcom, Extracurricular- a gritty high school drama popular with older teens, Vincenzo, and Beyond Evil- a dark police serial crime drama. There are also a few Chinese period costume /fantasy dramas which I’ve enjoyed like The Untamed and Word of Honor.

Thank you for these - was looking for a good place to start with Korean and Chinese series.

Oh yes they're great. I've been on a binge of supernatural K Drama recently: Sweet Home, The Guest, Hellbound - enjoyed them all.

Ooh more recommendations, thank you! And I have a friend who adores Crash Landing on You and writes fanfic for it so I'd better add that to the list or she'll be disappointed Grin

Only one mention of the amazing Shtisel so far, so I'll add it again.
And Ozark! It is brilliant. Both are brilliant. Ozark will keep you on the edge of your seat in the same way Breaking Bad does.
Rick and Morty! You've got to love mad, weird, abstract humour for this one, but I love Rick and Morty.
And anything by Dave Chapelle... The Closer is brilliant.

pigcon1 · 09/12/2021 09:22

Godless - 4 years old? Brilliant

NoMoreTractors · 09/12/2021 10:15
