At this point he is the weakest dancer by far. And without wanting to be horrible, I find him quite full of himself. Likes the sound of his own voice.

I'm guessing he's the nans favourite...

Aye - still my favourite breakfast presenter. He seems to keep more unbiased than others.

NativityDreaming · 07/11/2021 21:16

I don’t vote for him but I don’t understand the hand wringing when he avoids the dance off each week.

Some people vote based on dancing ability, some people don’t like ringers so won’t vote for those people, some people like journeys and seeing the dancers improve.

It’s an entertainment show and the public vote will always skew the results.

StucklnAMuumuuCantGetOutOflt · 07/11/2021 21:18

Hmm. Apparently he has been asking James Jordan whether he really can tell whether a sleb has danced before - Jordan and his wife are basically saying AJ has dance experience - sadly, a polite way of calling out the Jordans is never going to work Dan.

RowanAlong · 07/11/2021 21:20

He’s the BBC insider, they always hang on way too long!

NativityDreaming · 07/11/2021 21:27

John definitely has dance experience, someone posted an article referring to 5 years of dance training in his early teens. There’s always at least one celeb with a dance background.

OverByYer · 07/11/2021 21:31

I’d say John, Rhys, Tom and possibly Rose all have previous dance experience?
AJ looks like she has but I’m sure I Read that she hasn’t.

@Izzy24

Can’t understand why Shirley would have saved him 🤷‍♀️

??? She would have saved Adam and Katya, not Dan

TheSpottedZebra · 07/11/2021 22:00

My mum is voting. I sent her the link for online voting and she has used her new powers solely to vote for Dan.

Sorry.

Adam was in the dance off with Tilly not Dan. Shirley said she'd have saved Adam after the dance off.

I think that’s right. Rose and Tilly were said to have had ballet training, Rhys had street dancing, and Tom had theatre type training (same as Katy). Interestingly Nina had lots of dancing too but she was first out!

He has the grey vote. My mum texted me to say ' did you know Dan is your age? I thought he was 39!'

I'm 44

Thanks, mum Confused

GreenLunchBox · 07/11/2021 23:42

The bad thing is I thought he was about 49!ConfusedBlush😭

Tal45 · 08/11/2021 10:05

OMG I agree please stop voting for him, if that stupid lobster costume wasn't bad enough the people's choice where he just threw himself around should have been the nail in the coffin. He just looks gangly and all over the place no matter what he does. He should have been out weeks ago.

the80sweregreat · 08/11/2021 12:47

I'm not !
He is immensely annoying!

Hobnobswantshernameback · 08/11/2021 12:56

I'm voting for him
I like him
I like Nadia
I'm not a grandmother but why that would make my vote less valid I'm not really sure
Sick of the vitriol
Vote for your favourite and I'll vote for mine
It's meant to be a bit of fun

bonfireheart · 08/11/2021 13:07

He's OK, can't get worked up about it, as long as he isn't going to knock out the likely winners (Rose, AJ or John) which I don't he will then I don't mind. Tbf rather he stayed in than Tom and his social media Momma G brigade.

dozyjosie42 · 08/11/2021 13:43

@Hobnobswantshernameback this is probably the least vitriolic thread ever. It's lighthearted opinions about contestants on a tv show lol. Chill.

The BCC breakfast presenters always last way longer than they should and the judges favour them. Danny Mac was robbed when Ore won!

PrincessScarlett · 08/11/2021 14:33

I'm not voting for Dan but he has massive appeal as not only is he on BBC breakfast most mornings but has also spent years being a sports presenter for the BBC. So his popularity covers a wide spectrum of the audience with not just the news fans, mums and nans but also sporting fans young and old.

the80sweregreat · 08/11/2021 14:55

He seems so disappointed and sad that he didn't make it as a footballer ( reminds me of dh who gave up his dream of being in the fleet air arm because he failed one officer interview, rather than plug away at it or join at a more junior level!)
I doubt he'll win the the whole thing , but he has improved a bit since the start , I will give him that!
I find him annoying, but I don't vote for any of them anyway.
I hope that AJ or John wins it.
I also like Rose too.

IntermittentParps · 08/11/2021 15:01

A certain kind of mild TV presenter seems to do quite well on Strictly. I'd never heard of or watched him but I guess a lot of people watch his TV stuff and like him.
He and Nadiya are sweet together.
I think it's inspiring and heart-warming to watch someone like him who has clearly not been to stage school, and doesn't even have the advantages of being a sportsperson like physical fitness/flexibility or a killer competitive nature and winner mindset, and yet is working hard and improving. Slowly, yes, but he is improving. His dance this weekend was very him, and yes it could have been better, 'funkier' as Anton said, but I enjoyed it. Go Dan, I say!

70smillie · 08/11/2021 15:02

Id happily vote for him because he hasn't been to stage school/spent years entertaining on stage and because he isn't the child of celeb. Am heartily sick of celebs children taking up space.

Have you always been ageist or is it a learned thing? As he does breakfast TV, I'd say it was the SAHMs if we're playing at -isms. But that would be a twatty thing to do, so let's not. Hmm

This. I actually like Tilly more than I intended to, but let's face it, she didn't get to where she is under her own steam If you remove the ringers and the "have I mentioned I'm a high powered businesswoman"/I'm brilliant in the water, me" /let's show my aged relative and cry shenanigans, then you're left with: Dan, Rhys, AJ (though if she's not (and apparently she's not) a ringer, she's the bendiest most amazing dancer ever. The ringers were good when they started, they're good now.

Apart from your ageism. Obvs.
