Well, who'd a thunk it? Cat among pigeons time or what?

We've been watching through them on a Saturday evening and I'm still a fan, despite the daleks and the dei ex machina. Quietly excited.

Anyone else any thoughts?

That's fine, luckily it's not compulsory to watch.

Hubblebubble100 · 24/09/2021 21:45

I have to agree with a PP that I am amazed at the lack of scrutiny there has been given the allegations of sexual misconduct by some actors when RTD was in charge.

Christopher Eccleston allegedly left because he claimed the atmosphere was “toxic” , there were stories about actors forcibly kissing others, and even parody songs about the dick flopping (sung by Tennant in a spoof video).

I was at least expecting some form of statement about ensuring respectful workplace etc but it all seems to have been brushed under the carpet.

Seriously? If they are that bad, then that sort of statement means nothing.

I haven't read anything that implies RTD himself acted inappropriately. The other show runners have worked with JB and NC too.

But it was compulsory for women to be slapped in the face with a dick, and they didn't feel they could say anything and those that could say something said nothing. And if you think that is acceptable then I don't think it is me that has a problem.
MrsFin · 24/09/2021 21:51

Peter Capaldi and Jodie Foster were both rubbish doctors, and their sidekicks weren't up to much either. The whole thing got too pc for a while

LukeEvansWife · 24/09/2021 21:53

Being a rape survivor, no I dont think it's acceptable. Was it RTD who did it? Genuine question.

NC is persona non grata now, JB is still on everything.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 24/09/2021 21:55

@jollygreenpea

I think this is good news.

Christopher Eccleston was very good, David Tennant brilliant (no one has been better), didn't particularly like Matt Smith, didn't bother watching Peter Capaldi, I really tried to like Jodie Whittaker but it was far to woke for me.

I could have written this. I gave up on Matt Smith, think I fell asleep during the first Peter Capaldi. Love Jodie Whittiker and Bradley Walsh so watch them but didn’t enjoy them like David Tennant, I’ve watched every single one of those episodes dozens of times. I think Jodie could have been better with better writing.
LukeEvansWife · 24/09/2021 21:57

The only think wrong with the Capaldi stint was Clara. Fucking horrible character!

Vicliz24 · 24/09/2021 22:08

I loved Peter Capaldis Doctor but he was hugely let down by the writing. RTD is such a great and welcome announcement. The Chibnell years have been dreadful.

Hubblebubble100 · 25/09/2021 08:12

But RTD was the person in charge.

The fact that he has been rehired and the powers that be have completely ignored RTDs role as the show runner at the time when he was the person who the buck stopped with, is irresponsible at best.

On Twitter everyone is singing RTDs praises, there’s been absolutely no mention of the culture on the show, when he was in charge.

It’s a shame that yet again there has been no lessons learnt.

Oh I don't know, I can think of one lesson that has been learnt, indecent exposure and sexual assault isn't if its for the lolz

JustDanceAddict · 25/09/2021 11:21

I have barely watched since Matt Smith left / didn’t warm to his successors or the stories.

You don't know what changes have been made. Any statement will just sound ridiculous.

If the culture is still toxic, then the presence/absence of RTD won't make a difference.

NC's career is likely finished. Who knows about JB. He still seems to appear on ITV.

Boycott the show if you want. But hand wringing about it doesn't help.

BarefootHippieChick · 25/09/2021 11:46

@Whatsnewpussyhat

Jodie Foster just seems too breathless Grin I would've loved a breathless Jodie Foster over Jodie Whittaker daft gurning and taking about her 'Fam'

Ryan's monotone dullness was bad too.

Agree with jollygreenpea about it going woke. So much virtue signalling and no substance.

Oops 😬My bad!! I agree with your comments though fam 😉 Trying to appeal to teenagers and forgetting there's a whole other demographic who watch it. Even my teen thinks it's cringe!

100% agree. I hated Clara! She ruined the last Matt Smith episodes for me because I disliked her so much. Matt Smith is my favourite. I love him more every time I watch.

Agree that the JW series have just been too focused on being inclusive and 'woke' the stories aren't exciting enough

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 25/09/2021 18:20

Same.

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 07/10/2021 17:41

Oh, was it me last? Grin

Right. I’m on Ep 6 of Brassic S3 - and I’m nominating Joe Gilgun for everything. Dr Who, Bond, Emmys, Oscars … He was epically good in Misfits - and now - how can I be crying at Brassic? (They’re evil with the heart tugging music, too.)

Amazingly lovely actor.
