Anyone else watch the new version tonight? I was pleasantly surprised, I was kind of expecting not to know any of the music references because I'm old now and don't have a clue who most of the last lot of Brit award winners were, but they seem to be going for an older audience who watched it the first time round and it had a bit of a 90s vibe. I liked Greg Davies as the new host and Daisy May Cooper and Noel Fielding were good team captains. I will definitely be watching again.

I didn't know there was a new series. What channel? Not keen on any of the main players though.

Dontlickthetrolley · 22/09/2021 20:37

I thought it was very funny and really enjoyed it. Especially when the girls were complaining about the boys questions, cause I was thinking the same Grin

Floralnomad · 22/09/2021 20:40

I got about 15 minutes in and switched off , I like all the main participants and really liked the original show but it was all a bit to ‘try hard’ for me .

LukeEvansWife · 22/09/2021 20:42

I love Greg Davies, Noel Fielding and Daisy Mae Cooper so was looking forward to it. Really disappointed. Nish Kumar is as funny as a bout of piles and I had never heard of the musical guests

RandomDent · 22/09/2021 20:45

Loved the Bucks Fizz bit.

scoopydoopy · 22/09/2021 20:46

I hope it sort of calms down a bit. I agree it was try hard but I wondered if that's because it was the first episode.

Miserablewithweight · 22/09/2021 20:46

We really enjoyed it. I was massive fan of the original as a child so wasn’t sure if I’d like this reincarnation but we found ourselves laughing a lot!

Perhaps I will give it another try next week and see .

I liked Jade and Anne-Marie (which surprised me because their music's not my cup of tea), but found Daisy May irritating (which surprised me because I've always found her funny. She didn't listen to her team.

I thought the men's list songs were much easier.

It lacked the chaos of previous Buzzcocks, no doubt because they have to be spaced out and have the perspex in place.

But I laughed out loud at a fair few points and I'll definitely watch again.

Krabapple · 22/09/2021 22:32

I really like it. Loved the original and thought this was a good update.

kurtney · 23/09/2021 07:40

I watched it. They all seemed to be laughing really hard at stuff that wasn't that funny. Agree with the PP poster about Nish Kumar. How does he keep getting gigs?!

Liked the addition of Jamali, but didn't get enough of Daisy May Cooper to form an opinion at the moment, but I think I miss a an acerbic host like Simon Amstel who didn't give a shit who he offended, including the guests. SA's joke about Courtney Love is the stuff of legend.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 23/09/2021 08:11

What channel is it on? Looked for it on catch up but couldn't see it.

Might skip the first one though if Nish Kumar is in it.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 23/09/2021 08:48

Contestants tried too hard for me. Hysterical laughing for mildly funny comments. Not edgy enough though I really liked Anne Marie.

I missed Phil jupitus and bring back Simon amstell. He was amazing. As was Lamarr.

It's on sky Mac LLP (used to be sky one)

Sky max. Ffs

I'm prepared to give it another go. Never been keen on Daisy and still not. Didn't know who the other women were.

Love Nish, though, and Noel.

Greg in charge was a good choice.

I had to think for a minute what that joke was, then 🤣🤣🤣 I loved SA and how ruthless he was, but I suspect he’d never get away with that these days.

No, you're probably right. I think Noel is on record saying they had problems getting guests to come on because they didn't want to be torn apart by Simon Amstell. I think it probably peaked when Preston walked off set after Simon read excerpts from Chantelle's book.

Shame really. It used to be one of the funniest things on tv and it definitely lost its bite after SA left. I suppose the new show will be ok for a generation who've never seen the old one.

LukeEvansWife · 23/09/2021 18:41

I tried watching Simon Anstell back in the day but he was bloody awful. Not funny

Wafflehouse · 23/09/2021 22:34

I used to always watch this with my mum and sister and the id line up would come on and the people in it would’ve been around in my mum’s day and she’d always get them straight away and say they hadn’t changed at all and we’d sit there thinking how old everyone looked and not have a clue. It was my turn to be my mum when I watched this week.

I did enjoy it though and liked that the format hadn’t been changed too much. I don’t really follow new music now like I used to so wasn’t expecting to enjoy it but I think it was a good mix of things for an older (my age) audience and younger.

ScienceSensibility · 24/09/2021 01:52

Thought it was absolutely awful! It is supposed to be a quiz, no?

Took ages before they even asked the first question, and then they were geared for the showing off by the participants.

Almost as bad as the new Question of Sport, so I won’t bother with either of them again. Booooo!

Mooserp · 24/09/2021 13:57

I haven't seen it yet, but I was confused by some of these comments about watching as a child. Just checked when it started (1996) I hadn't realised how old it is (I am).

I hear ya! I was in my mid twenties when it was on Blush
scoopydoopy · 28/09/2021 22:13

I always thought daisy was absolutely hilarious. Such good dry humour. On taskmaster she was hilarious. On buzzcocks she's cackling at some really unfunny stuff like it's the most hilarious thing she's ever heard and the whole show feels forced. I don't know really.

Mooserp · 29/09/2021 09:02

She seems to have had a bit of an image change over the past few months. Her instagram account has been very quiet, no more funny stuff, I've only seen pics of her posing and out drinking.
