Unreal (stylized as UnREAL) is an American drama television series that premiered on Lifetime on June 1, 2015.[2] It stars Shiri Appleby as a young reality television producer pushed by her unscrupulous boss (Constance Zimmer) to swallow her integrity and do anything it takes to drum up salacious show content. The show was created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, and was inspired by Shapiro's award-winning independent short film Sequin Raze.

Producer Rachel Goldberg returns to Everlasting, a popular dating show, after a breakdown. With a reputation to rebuild and executive producer Quinn King breathing down her neck, Rachel must pull out all the stops in what she does best: manipulating the contestants to create the outrageous drama that viewers expect.

Just started this, and its quite fun, but... I havent watched The Bachelor, I dont really like reality shows.

Has anyone watched both?

Yes I’ve watched both. I loved UnREAL, particularly the first couple of series. I don’t think you have to have watched the bachelor, although I think some knowledge of how reality shows work might be useful. Did you ever watch big brother or anything like that?

I think i might have watched some of the first BB, but i dont really like those types of shows. I like drama (username, Greys Anatomy)

I watched this when it was first on TV. I've never watched The Bachelor but you don't need to in order to enjoy the series. I reckon it's pretty true to life in just how ruthless the producers are on those (& any) kind of reality shows!

I really enjoyed it, great characters and a bit different.

I was hooked, loved it. I imagine it's OTT but I definitely think these shows are manipulated by the producers in a similar way.

So those who have seen the bachelor, are the 'show' bits real? Are they really just 'making out' all the time?

First season was great. Casting was great

The people who wrote Unreal worked on the batchelor so I think it’s got strong elements of how heavily produced those shows are.

I really like the series.
