I think they’re going to get back together. I hope not but if they are i wonder if it’s all a tactic to get votes.

Winemewhynot · 20/08/2021 08:24

Faye went up in my opinion yesterday, I think she gave Liberty sound advice and seemed genuinely upset for her. Her and Teddy have the nosy chemistry by a mile, yes she behaved liked a dick but remember we only see a tiny bit.

In the case of Jake, again it seems he’s bee favoured by the editors! There’s obviously been lots of little comments about her style that have chipped away at her confidence. Yesterday you could see how uncomfortable she was from the off, he was so cold and disengaged with her. All she wanted him to say was ‘no your wrong I love you for you’ and he couldn’t even do that!

I don’t think Tyler is into Kaz, he looked dead behind the eyes on that date, and actually I don’t think she’s that arsed either!

Liam looked so fit yesterday it was the first time I looked at him and thought wowzers, must be now he’s 22 😂😂😂😂

Winemewhynot · 20/08/2021 08:28

I so hope the happiness on Libs face when they return from the date is from the relief that’s she’s going to leave and she her family. Not that that little weasel has wormed his way back in.

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/08/2021 08:32

fourminutes
We actually don’t even see them interacting for anything like an hour a day, probably more like 35/40mins. Adverts last over 12 mins for starters.

fourminutestosavetheworld · 20/08/2021 08:32

Faye didn't go up in my estimation yesterday. Faye merely inserted herself at the centre of the drama as usual, ensured airtime, determined to ensure she was portrayed in the 'good friend' role for the voters at home.

You're right. Didn't think about the actual content of each programme!
vjg13 · 20/08/2021 08:36

Really hope Liberty's announcement is that she/they are leaving. I was surprised Jake didn't try to talk her out of them splitting up, that must confirm everything to her.
The petal pool looked ludicrous, can't believe they had to stand in it!

Newpuppymummy · 20/08/2021 08:36

If Jake is really even a teeny bit media savvy he will realise coming out as friends a d doing the rounds of interviews as friends would garner much more publicity and improve public opinion of him

Choux · 20/08/2021 08:36

@butterpuffed

I'm beginning to think it's all staged, every little bit . When they 'woke up' yesterday [or day before, can't remember] they all had their microphones on. Well, they don't sleep with them on, so must've already woken, then been told to pretend they were asleep and wake up again.
Was that so they could be shown being woken up by the babies?

I also noticed when Faye and Lib were chatting on the sofa last night that Lib wasn't wearing her mic as she had taken it off when she stormed out. But it was on Faye's knee. Then when Liberty started talking more quietly it had moved and was on Liberty's lap. So what we saw was not a one take conversation with no producer intervention.

Amy Hart also said the fire pit recouplings take something like 4 hours to film so the little looks islanders give could be spliced in and taken for a completely different part of the recoupling to help create the narrative the producers want.

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/08/2021 08:37

@fourminutestosavetheworld
Crazy, isn’t it? And we know a lot of this is scripted, as in they have to say certain things and bring up certain topics. People like Brad was ridiculed by Ian Stirling because he couldn’t string a sentence together. It’s likely he couldn’t deal with the scripting. I think this is partly why they all sound monumentally thick.

We the public are very easily manipulated.

Exactly!

Because he is a little narcissist who needs to make sure she loses some of her confidence so that he feels more important and “better than” her.

Exactly, lots of little digs, that's what the whole 'it's all about you' comments were about. He really didn't like the fact that she took a better photo than him. Thinks way too much of himself but really is an insecure little prick.
I will lose all respect for Liberty if she takes him back, she KNOWS he's not into her and even if he was he treats her like crap.

I've been watching with my teenage son this year for the first time and it's really been a brilliant opportunity to discuss relationships /boundaries/how to treat (or not treat) someone you care about etc. so at least it has some sort of educational value!

Toby and chloe for the win. Not too fussed about chloe but she's played the game well as has Toby. He just a got a bit excited in the early days Grin.

fourminutestosavetheworld · 20/08/2021 08:52

Every year I say I won't watch it but do. We all know it's rubbish telly but then it's also fun and addictive.

But I do think we hold them to impossibly high ideals. When they act like normal people - wondering whether they fancy the girl they met two days enough to stay coupled up with her, getting to know other women since they're not actually in exclusive relationships, rolling their eyes at some drama, saying a public favourite can be sensitive - they are vilified.

Viewers seem to want them to couple up and then show complete loyalty and adulation. No grumpy mornings, no irritated comments, no normal reactions at all. Positive, loyal, happy at all times. It's no wonder every series is more dull than the last. They know what the viewers want, and what they won't tolerate, so we are creating them that formulaic way.

Something good to come out of it! I actually Saif this to my dm, that I thought it could be quite good in terms of teaching young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships.
PumpkinKlNG · 20/08/2021 09:14

Well I was saying how did they not hear the babies being brought in?! I would have heard that but then I’m a light sleeper so wouldn’t have slept through it, I think they did know they were woken up and warned to stay in the room or whatever

CellophaneFlower · 20/08/2021 09:21

@Itsnotover

I don't think they're well suited as Liberty is always going to need extra reassurance and Jake has no idea she doesn't understand when he's joking

I think most people would need extra reassurance if they discovered the person they were in a relationship with had told their friends they didn't fancy you....

Yes... but in RL this situation isn't going to happen. Jake was pondering to the boys, within a few days of meeting Liberty, whether he was making the right choice as he didn't get that instant attraction. He was hardly giving her a massive roasting and putting her down behind her back. And I've not noticed him not be complimentary about her to the other boys since. However, when he is saying nice things about her, apparently it's just to win the money and he's insincere so I'm not really sure how he's supposed to behave.

I think it said a lot about Liberty when when she didn't question Jake about encouraging the boys in Casa (unless it wasn't shown, which is doubtful). She's clearly not bothered about his attitude/morals as a whole, as long as they don't affect her. Which is surprising as she actually made a comment whilst they were in Casa that she wouldn't accept that. Can't remember exactly what she said but it was mentioned in regards to the boys as a whole egging each other on.

ILoveYou3000 · 20/08/2021 09:23

@RevolvingPivot

Jake didn't like the photo he took as he wasn't looking so didn't want to post it presumably? Liberty probably thought she looked good so said keep it or something and he said (jokingly I think). It's all about you ie as long as you think you look ok.

She totally relayed that differently to Faye. She just said he had told her "it's all about you".

The messy comment was a joke too as he couldn't find his stuff.

Not sure about the red lipstick and clothes though?

No this isn't what happened at all. She said he looked fit in the photo. She mentioned nothing about how she looked. She was complimenting him, and he was nasty to her.

Telling the woman you purport to love she's giving you the 'ick' then telling her she's immature and childish because she's messy is not funny in any way shape or form.

All he did last night was criticise her. The whole boat conversation, the song (which she sang correctly). He was visibly irritated with her, huffing and puffing, being dismissive and cold.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 20/08/2021 09:36

I think Liberty is right - they aren't suited. She is far too needy and attention seeking for Jake. He needs a more robust girl who doesn't demand his every minute. When she was going on and on about the heels and eyelashes and being messy I read his feelings as "right, I'm never going to get it right for this girl - I'll let her go." Why should he flog a dead horse? She's confronted him 3 or 4 times in recent days, it probably gets a bit tired after a while and even though he's not the brightest he can see that she's more or less decided. Infact, he said as much in the diary room.

I'm a committed feminist, my usual home on here is the feminism boards, I always see things from a woman's pov but if I were on Love Island (ha!) I would have been the Jake in this relationship. It's a game show. They've known each other 7 weeks. For her to declare herself actually in love with him is ridiculous. She couldn't even let himself cook the eggs without sliding her bum over the counter to demand a kiss. It's too much, suffocating.

Can we apply the same caution when airing our feelings about Jake as we are being asked to about Faye please? I've seen him called odious, shit and a cunt on Mumsnet and his height and looks ridiculed.

That scripted nonsense in the petal pool ... don't make me laugh. And all of that scene lovingly shot with a film camera filter on to look even more romantic and inter-cut with scenes of Liberty and Jake doing separate things in the villa. Manipulation much.

Why was it twice only Faye on hand to comfort Liberty - when she had told her she isn't friends with her just the evening before? Why listen to someone who claimed Jake was like a brother to her but has done a complete volte-face on that because he voted for her in the recent vote as did Liberty. Strange behaviour from Liberty there. I don't think it's natural.

It's plain as day who the powers that be want to win Love Island. My letter of protest will be a strong one if they bloody win!

Anon778833 · 20/08/2021 09:48

Liberty is needy and attention seeking? Really??

fourminutestosavetheworld · 20/08/2021 09:53

@Itsnotover

I think asking someone why they haven't said 'I love you' yet is the definition of needy.

As is getting upset that he's not spending all of his time with her or because he is - completely innocently - chatting to Millie.

The fact that Millie and Liam mentioned it to each other last night, considering that they see a lot more of them than we do, further supports that.

fourminutestosavetheworld · 20/08/2021 09:54

I also hated the way she slid her way across the kitchen counters while he was preparing food.

JacquelineCarlyle · 20/08/2021 09:59

Who knows how this all goes down - I feel completely manipulated by the producers and wouldn't have a clue what was honest and what wasn't. I do like Liberty though so hope she is ok.

Creuset · 20/08/2021 10:09

@Creuset

Looks like they're both going home tomorrow then.
Has anyone else seen the headline?!
