Given it took Liberty breaking up with him for Jake to admit he didn't feel affection for her, she obviously made the right decision. And if she hadn't he would happily coasted till something better came along, like a lot of people do. And he could have saved her having to have the fraught conversations, if he'd told her in the first place the truth about how he felt. Mixed messages of making grand declarations like that relationship bracelet, then getting tongue tied when actually having to express emotions is a head f**k for anyone.
Given how articulate he was with Toby on Unseen Bits, it's safe to say Liberty's instinct was right, he just wasn't that into her.
