OMG. The people on these programmes have no self respect. Why would you live in a house with so much mess? Their kids are embarrassed,

Love this programme. I didnt understand why people would send their children to the childminder, she seemed so lovely but the houseShock Also when did ofsted last inspect?

@SaturdaySpread

I haven't seen this one, but I always thought the similar thing Kim and Aggie did was exploitative. No one lives likes that if they're well.
I used to think that too. I watched Kim and Aggie because I loved seeing the before and after, but those people clearly weren't well.

I know a few people with severely cluttered houses (some dirty, some not) and all of them have mental health issues.

Springleaves · 12/09/2021 10:17

I think it’s an indication of poor mental health and it’s a really unpleasant reaction to judge people for that.

I also can’t stand Nick Knowles, I know of him through friends and I don’t think he is nice. He said something awful on Twitter about female victims of crime and then blocked me when I said something.

One of the programmes I watched on catch-up (rather more serious hoarders, think it may have been called Hoarders Grin) made a point of saying that participants had been offered counselling before, during and after the process.

I thought the pilot with SS did a rather better job of showing that they were using stuff that was already there. It would have been nice to have seen some shots of neglected ornaments with sentimental value that ended up taking pride of place in the new room - those blue plates over the bed, for instance: were they beloved possessions with meaning or had they just been picked up in Tesco? And goodness me some of the new decor was decidedly bland (I thought for a moment they were going to paint over those lovely blue kitchen units, so glad they didn't).

What a fucking awful post. I caught a bit of it the other day and they'd had a really sick child so were clinging on to loads of memory related stuff. Most people who live like this have various trauma which leads to this.
TowandaForever · 14/09/2021 20:23

@MrsDThomas

There is absolutely no excuse in keeping shit. And dirt. No excuses
Everyone featured on this programme so far has had something traumatic happen to them.

If you've watched it why don't you understand how they've got this problem?

You've obviously never had an overwhelming trauma where you cannot cope with everyday life .... try thinking other people can't cope as well as others .... it might make you a better person Hmm
