She coped well with him though, I doubt I would

I would have lost my temper with him and told him where to go I think but I guess she was desperate for the surgery.

I watched this the first time round, I was about 15 and really liked Julia and agree she was treated terribly by the Psychiatrist.

I remember also at the time being so confused and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that you cannot change sex, no matter how many operations you have. I felt she was being mislead and asking my parents why people weren’t people being honest with her.

It later came out that she’d had a truly awful childhood.

You just reminded me to go find and watch this afterwards. I caught the very end part where she was in the office of what I assume was a psychiatrist and he was pissed off and having a go at her something chronic about something. He sounded an absolute wanker but I didn't get the context or what he was going at her about.

Made a mental note to just find it on iPlayer and watch then forgot until now.

I saw a bit of this - it was all about the psychiatrist and absolutely nothing to do with the patient. Let's hope if he's still working he's changed his attitude.

he didnt want to be shown, not surprising! but his name was exposed most people were totally shocked by his attitude , he died in 1982

otoh it shows how much has changed in doctors generally - thank god
