I did.

MAde me cry, which is unusual.

Do you think they edited out a bit of the young carer refusing the money?

It was quite nice to have people who deserve money get it without a huge fanfare, just abloke handing over a checque, quite understated.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 29/11/2007 20:01

Yes, I really enjoyed it.

Iamshy · 29/11/2007 21:40

I cried because it was my home town and the guy they showed at Pengarth Day Centre married myself and my now ex husband, he's such a lovely man. I used to live on the Treneere Estate that was mentioned alot and were he worked in the chippy. They were not joking when they said that it is the worst estate in Penzance. I saw so many faces that I knew on it last night that I felt abit homesick for the place. The Toziers are the nicest couple you could ever meet and are friends of my mum, she has an amazing outlook on life.

I didn't like this programme at first, the way they put on their suit and said, actually I'm a millionaire, here have this and then grown men would cry. I felt uncomfortable watching it.

It depends week to week though, there have been some lovely ones and last night was very touching, I really liked the care worker and the couple from the estate. They said he'd carried on doing a similar thing or it had changed his life or something. Must look it up.

ElasticAnimal · 29/11/2007 21:51

must have been feelign cynical. seemed contrived. could have been my mood.
still brings a tear

Polgara2 · 29/11/2007 22:07

Gosh only saw this for the first time last night - didn't realised it was a series! Are they all about different millionaires then - common as muck being a millionaire now then - wouldn't catch me being one .
Seriously I really enjoyed it and as it was supposed to made me feel all warm when he gave the money to them!

Magdelanian · 29/11/2007 22:13

I've seen it twice (got out-voted on the dreadful jungle celeb thing) but I love it and yes, always cry. The people they integrate with know they are making a tv programme cos of course the cameras are there. Am I correct in thinking that they are told its someone just coming to live and work in a new area?

And yes agree we are being manipulated but in a nice way this time.

Iamshy · 29/11/2007 22:15

Yes, that is correct

colditz · 29/11/2007 22:18

what happened with the care worker? I was hooked on last night's, having been a care worker, but missed the bit where he gave out the dosh!

expatinscotland · 29/11/2007 22:20

he gave her £8,000, cold. she bought a cooker, a washing machine, a car and driving lessons.

colditz · 29/11/2007 22:28

Wow! She needed it.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 30/11/2007 18:15

I like this series too, although last nights didn't move me as much as some of the earlier ones, I actually shed tears at the first (I think) one where the woman agreed to pay for that little girls stage school fees until she was 16
