Still confused about the Jake hate. It's been edited to make him look bad. He may have not been reassuring enough with his compliments and then a bit weird suggesting she doesn't run over to Kaz but has he done anything that bad really? Have seen no flirting with other girls. His chat with Mary was about Aaron. I think he's just not that good at expressing his feelings or maybe he is still working out how he feels. So many have done so much worse in terms of treating others badly (Liam, Kaz, Faye) but that seems to be accepted.

I agree with all of this. So much hatred towards him but not sure he's done much to deserve it. I'm wondering if there's just so little to talk about that everyone is focusing on him as there's nothing else to discuss?

I'm not a Jake fan but seriously nobody 'can get others' to do anything they aren't willing to do. I don't think he's the villain he's been made out to be. He isn't as into Liberty as she is into him. He stuck by her because she's a safe bet. Thats playing the game. The production team are playing with the viewers trying to stir things up and people are falling into their trap.

I don’t think Priya has made a big deal out of being a medical student, I suspect the production team have selectively edited it so it looks like she’s mentioned it lots. I thought she seemed a bit smug in the diary room, but she’s mixing with people a lot younger than her and also with different types of people than she’d normally be friends with.

I still want odious goblin to be true (dunno where the romantic rather than cynic in me has come from) and just hope that he lacks emotional intelligence and the vocabulary to speak about his feelings. I suspect from his body language eg staring at the ground after recouplings and the girls picking up on actions which link to the boiling frog analogy, that he is playing a game though. Maybe he started playing a game and then started to actually fall for her .

LI is a very emotionally intense environment, wasn’t there some research that showed that the more physically close you were with people the more you fancied them, or did I dream that? I can imagine that 6 weeks in there feels like 6 months. That said when I was 26 I got engaged to a bloke after 6 weeks (looking back god knows what my parents thought of that!). We stayed together for 4 years, bought a house etc. Never actually married him in the end mind! I married a 5’6” bloke eventually, that didn’t end well, he was an emotionally stunted coward, nothing like Jake…

For what its worth I think Brett wonders at himself too. And I havent warmed to him either. Its def not a male female thing for me. The 'shocker' really epitomised it for me. Im not denying she is intelligent at all but I come from a culture where modedty is valued, in both sexes, so racing straight up there and acting superior was cringe to me. Im not saying they shouldn't be top spot but at least allow some discussion or the chance for others to.suggest it.

Also i firmly believe intelligence and academic achievement while certainly linked are not exactly the same thing. There are lots of peope i know who are extremely intelligent but for whatever reason, lack of opportunity, family circumstance etc didnt progress academically. Also degrees are so plentiful and common now that i know lots of people with one who definitely arent all that intelligent on any level.
Im not saying she isnt a nice or good person. We only see edited snippets chosen by editors after careful consideration of the image they want to portray. And sometimes i forget just how young these people are. I have 20 years on them and know I have matured a lot in that time.
Still cant help.but feel she is arrogant even if it is in a naive way. I haven't seen as much of Brett yet to know what i think but he is definitely not my 'type' either

Gosh, poor priya, I’ve no issue with a woman knowing her worth and stating it, she’s hardly constantly reminding people, she’s made a couple of comments, I can’t get on board with the women need to not tell people. Brett has mentioned his phd more and he’s not getting insulted for it. Is that because it’s ok for men to do it and not women?

Most young people when asked what they do say student, not business student or history student but she was straight in there with medical student

Being a medical student, by the time you're 5th year (so on the wards) as she is, isn't remotely like being a student on a 3 year academic course. If she'd really wanted to flex, she'd be talking about her stint in a covid ICU earlier this year.

I know a fair few who went to expensive schools and still failed to get decent degrees. It’s no guarantee at all. It takes a lot to get into med school and stay the course.

Yeah, I have a few friends who did medicine and they said that quite a few dropped out in the first year because it is so tough.

I actually think that young men have less and less respect for women as time goes on and think they have the right to demand a woman looks and acts like a porn star.

I don't like some of Jake's actions (cajoling the others in Casa, holding back Lib, repeating "but you're my "Gurrfriend") but, I think the disparaging comments about his height are uncalled for. There are many men under 5'8" who are perfectly lovely! Some people here may have DSs who might not make lofty heights, it would be awful to read such comments. By all means call Jake out in his deeds, but not his stature.

Also, wasn't she wrongly reported to have been a COVID nurse in some press?

I would be keen to correcct that if I was almost a doctor.
