I've just spotted this on iplayer. The only adapted Pratchett I've enjoyed is Good Omens. Has anyone seen this?

@Baystard

How have they omitted Colon?!
How could they include him in their woke world Hmm

I've just watched the first episode.

The setting doesn't feel right. There's no internal consistency with the level of technology. A-M should have atmosphere and presence; in the books it's a character in its own right.

And it feels as though the casting was done by someone who hasn't read any of the books.

I watched it all in one night. I loved it. It starts slow but gets better. According to an article I read it is not very faithful to the original but the journalist said both...

"Dormer eventually calms down slightly, at which point The Watch becomes more tolerable." And also, "The longer The Watch goes on the less resemblance it bears to Pratchett. Nonetheless, it has a quirky humour all of its own."

I found Cheery, Carrot and Corporal Angua all very endearing. The sword drove me nuts and reminded me a bit of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

So, new to Pratchett (and loving Good Omens), I really enjoyed The Watch.

Watch, review: Terry Pratchett fans be warned, you will hate this adaptation [[https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2021/07/01/watch-review-terry-pratchett-fans-warned-will-hate-adaptation/?fbclid=IwAR1shs-LlFBxTqDcQiOET1-bRuKpRmv_D_cvwM4W1EvKmzjEOxlBRUnv16M]]

Is Good Omens available on Catch Up anywhere?

Tractordiggerdump · 11/07/2021 11:29

Amazon prime has Good Omens on just now.

Terhou · 11/07/2021 22:35

Oh, brilliant. Many thanks, @Tractordiggerdump

I’ve steered clear of this series, but just wanted to suggest for casting Sybil, a young Lynda Baron (Nurse Gladys Emmanuel)

SageBlue · 14/07/2021 19:06

I just watched about 30 minutes. It's a bit weird, kind of set in modern times, but not modern, kind of like a London slum. Nothing except the character names reminds me of Pratchett.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/07/2021 22:53

DH & I just tried this. Both big TP fans, read all the books. Not been overly impressed with any of the adaptations so far, except good Omens - but wanted to give it chance.
As soon as Death started talking in an American accent I was on edge & it went downhill from there. Utter shite!
The show runner said at ComiCon:

so we had to do a sort of pick-and-mix of the best bits across the range of books and invent our own series, invent our own world.”

So why not write your own f*cking original script you twat???
