Loved it! I did feel quite annoyed when he sent Kaleb off to London in a huge truck thing to try and sell the Wasabi. Completely wasted trip and NOT environmentally friendly. Also, he is rich enough to pay for all the parking charges, but they are there to deter people like him! Just ill judged , wasteful and entitled.
It is an interesting insight into the problems farmers face, but it's an expensive hobby for him, not a livelihood. I'm sure the other farmers will watch it and feel quite irritated. If he has a problem he just throws money at it and brings in experts or help. It isn't real farming in that way, but an enjoyable programme, and Jeremy comes across as likeable in general. It would be heartening to see him ditch the gas guzzling vehicles and try to be more environmentally friendly. He also seems to want to cut across government rules and guidelines all the time just because he's Jeremy Clarkson, which is galling.
The owl boxes and efforts to plant wildflowers were encouraging, but otherwise it's lots of fertilisers and over priced stuff in the shop.
I can reassure you that other farmers have found it very refreshing to watch. It's very popular with farmers.
He just got it, he got the frustrations and the difficulties. He pointed out some of the absolutely ludicrous stuff that is going on and how farming is actually really very skilled.
I shed a tear (which is very unlike me) when he said early on in the series that despite how hard it was, despite all the exciting and wonderful things he has done in his life, that this was genuinely the happiest and most content he had ever been.
That's how I feel, and that's what a lot of people don't understand about farming particularly the ones that go on to threads where farmers are trying to explain and tell us 'just go and do something else'.
Farming for us isn't just something you do, it's something you are. In the very core of your being.
