Evening Bambinos. Will be watching. Paul Ritter filmed this knowing he wouldn’t be here to see it aired.

Enjoy the squirrel, don’t shit on it though.

That was wonderful to watch - such a brilliant program. It was really hard to see Paul Ritter so unwell.

lollipoprainbow · 29/05/2021 09:53

Still feel sad about Paul Ritter today 😢

Goldenphoenix · 29/05/2021 10:16

Ooh where can I catch up with this please? Can't find it on sky. Can anyone tell me what it was called to help me search please?

jay55 · 29/05/2021 10:30

It'll be on All4.

Lovely bit of squirrel.

Thought it showed just how brilliant Mark Heap is as an actor, not looking a bit like his character.
Also just how great the main four are at physical comedy.

It was so sad to see Paul so unwell, but good on him for doing it as he wanted to.

MrsPnut · 29/05/2021 10:35

It made me feel so sad seeing Paul looking so unwell, I loved FND and binge watched them all earlier this year when I was on bed rest.

dannydyerismydad · 29/05/2021 10:50

You know a character has nibbled a way into your heart when you imagine the antics the family would get up to at the funeral. And then you have to give your head a wobble...

What a fabulous cast. The writing is genius, but it takes a really talented cast to make those characters endearing and entertaining.

I'm still feeling emotional about Paul's death.

newnortherner111 · 29/05/2021 16:50

@lollipoprainbow I felt the same as well and had to switch off. When he died there was such an outpouring of love for his work I was in a mixture of laughter that almost hurt and the rare experience of tears for someone I never met.

It'll only be available on channel 4s catch up service I would think.
RedcurrantPuff · 29/05/2021 18:40

It was so sad to see poor Paul. I cried.

How fitting that it turns out the last line of FND ever uttered was by Martin.

Shit on it.

lollipoprainbow · 29/05/2021 19:15

@newnortherner111 I'm not usually affected by celebrity deaths but his has really got to me, I think because it was such a shock, he was so young and you almost felt you knew him/the Goodman's.

RaraRachael · 29/05/2021 19:26

I was really shocked by Paul Ritter's death too. My kids got me into FND and I loved almost all the episodes, apart from series 6.

They looked like a great cast who all got on well. So sad that three of them have died recently.

Can anyone tell me the top 3 episodes as I had to go to bed? My faves were The Fos, The Mouse and any involving Mr Morris. Grin

Serpenta · 29/05/2021 19:29

OMG Mr Morris is so hilarious Grin

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/05/2021 19:35

i think you were spot on @RaraRachael

You would have hit the jackpot with your episodes, I got two out of three. The Mr Morris actor was on the programme, he seemed almost normal....... Grin

Gosh it's not often that my taste reflects general opinion!

We use so many of the phrases from FND in our conversation now. My kids and I greet each other with Shalom (I think our neighbours must wonder if we're a closet Jewish family), pineapples, punk rockers, females etc

I thought I was the only person I knew who liked it, but was delighted to find two work colleagues who are obviously as mad as me.

Lol. We have adopted some of the sayings too. We say Shalom. And (most used) "you look nice....Jackie" or "something smells nice Jackie"

The DC favourite is "bloody punk rockers"

Serpenta · 29/05/2021 21:21

I kept wondering how Jackie would have coped with Martin dying.

ZittiEBuoni · 29/05/2021 21:22

I'm going to have to leave watching this on All4 until I'm a bit less devastated about Paul Ritter. I just adored him, he was so brilliant (not just in FND but that was the first thing I saw him in).

And if Fox in the Freezer wasn't one of the top 3 episodes I will complain to the ombudsman. I've seen it 4 times and it's made me cry laughing every time.

shalomsquirrel · 29/05/2021 23:58

We just watched the 10 year anniversary show. Love FND but so desperately sad about Paul Ritter. He seems to have been every bit as well loved and nice as he was talented, which is really saying something.

I was pleased to see Robert Popper get so much airtime and to hear about how he created and wrote the show. Usually with this type of thing the writers don’t get a look in, and they wheel in lots of pointless celebs in, instead!

Serpenta · 30/05/2021 00:01

Didn't Robert Popper's real life granny look so much like the actress who played his granny? Grin

RedcurrantPuff · 30/05/2021 01:22

Oh don’t ☀️💔
MaitlandGirl · 30/05/2021 04:41

Mark Heap is an absolute nutter (in a brilliant kind of way). He did a video birthday message for DD2 (as Jim) and it was hysterical. He made props that he included and the video is minutes long.

FND will always be a favourite in our household and is a fantastic piece of British comedy.

Phyllis321 · 30/05/2021 08:34

I actually found it a bit comforting to see Paul Ritter smiling and articulate so close to the end. Still heartbreaking though. The beautiful radio drama he did recently with Tamsin is well worth a listen. Such a brilliant actor.

As a complete aside, I had no idea the sofa man was the legendary Garth Marenghi! That really tickled me.

There is a startling revelation from Tamsin Greig about what they wanted Wilson to do to the Fox. Fortunately Wilson decided it wasn’t in their best interest to be known as “that dog” and declined!

I'm on my own today and out "beautiful" day hasn't quite materialised so I'm going to have a binge watch of FND today.
