I'm not any better at sewing than poetry as it happens.

Anyways, line for Patrick starts behind me.

I didn't like Damien's dress either. Fine for work, but not a party dress. I don't want to go to his party either if that's the dress-code.

I thought Rafe's dress was the right choice for GOTW. Rebecca's was nice but it wasn't very special.

See you all next week.

dillite · 26/05/2021 22:00

Have you noticed how Damien is getting told off more and more by Patrick and Esme?

dillite · 26/05/2021 22:01

I thought that Rebecca's, although very well sewn, was just really dull. Almost matronly. It looked like it came from a shop.

Piggywaspushed · 26/05/2021 22:03

Farie's was the one I would wear. The rest looked uncomfortable. I can imagine a young lass in Rebecca's though.

HeadNorth · 26/05/2021 22:03

I think it was Andrew's time to go, even if he had done a perfect job his dress was pretty ho hum. I liked Rebecca's dress the best and don't understand why she wasn't in contention for GOTW.

Wolfcub · 26/05/2021 22:06

I agree re Rebecca's being pedestrian. It screamed Debenhams

Whitney168 · 26/05/2021 22:10

I thought the fit on front top of Raph’s was very odd?

SoupDragon · 26/05/2021 22:14

I thought Rafe's dress was the right choice for GOTW. Rebecca's was nice but it wasn't very special.

It didn't have pleats where it looked like the stitching was coming undone though.

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/05/2021 22:14

I nodded off and missed most of the catwalk of party frocks. Rafe's looked beautiful on the mannequin though.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/05/2021 22:17

@Piggywaspushed

I can literally imagine Esme curled up like a dormouse in a little box.
I will never get that delightful image out of my mind's eye.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/05/2021 22:25

I liked Rebecca's the best.

Rafe's seemed a bad fit around the neckline - it seemed to gape.

I think he is getting on their wicks more and more every week. Grin
Fandangoes · 26/05/2021 22:35

Why is Patrick so badly dressed this season? He always used to look so well put together and now he looks like someone dressed him with the lights off!

MoonCatcher · 26/05/2021 22:36

No Damien, Raph coming first didn't mean you lost out on GOTW, there were other better Party dresses in contention too

MoonCatcher · 26/05/2021 22:37

I have this sneaking feeling Damien is going to win 😬

Maireas · 26/05/2021 22:39

That dull tweed dress of Damien's was like something from Hobbs, very dull and functional. Not stylish or party like at all, so I'm glad he didn't get garment of the week. I'll miss Andrew, he seems really nice. Serena rarely slips up!

No!! Please don't say that!
PickAChew · 26/05/2021 22:41

Damian is a plonker but is so good at fit, even if his dress was more appropriate for a business dinner (a light business dinner, mind because there's no room for bloat!)

AlanThePig · 26/05/2021 23:02

I could see Serenas dress in an episode of Dynasty and tbh the 1980s it where it should have firmly stayed.
Damien is still driving me nuts but I did love his dress. Andrew the right one to go though, after he said clergy all I could see was the bishop.

PickAChew · 26/05/2021 23:07

My DM is in East Yorkshire and her WI has been trying to get in touch with local contestants. Andrew didn't reply but Cathryn, who DM was sure she recognised, anyhow, was very forthcoming and is doing a talk for them, later this year.

Cocolapew · 26/05/2021 23:24

Damien has a very 1980's idea of what sexy is.

cateycloggs · 26/05/2021 23:31

Does anyone else think Damien is doing this for a bet? I can imagine him having watched The Sewing Bee saying to his mates/partner, "I bet I could win that."and bunging in an application after knocking up a few dresses.
He doesn't seem to have any real interest in the technicalities though he can master them due to his engineering abilities (wasn't that mentioned at the start?), or the design element - look at what he did or did not do in the transformation challenge(s), or in fabrics or materials in themselves as shown by his comments this evening about how he wears the same boring things all the time. And why he thought a tweed dress was suitable for a party dress.

That's why I think he thinks he knows better than the instructions he is given. and why he seems to pull it back with the last challenge that they have had time to research, practice and prepare for beforehand. I would hate for him to win or even be second or third as the others plainly love the craft and creativity in their different ways.

MrsFin · 26/05/2021 23:33

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I like Damien.

He does come across as an 80's nightmare
Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/05/2021 00:15

It was boring, and yes to it looking like it was from debenhams.

Damien's was not a party dress at all. The sleeve length bugged me too. Too long to be 3/4 and too short to be full length.
His shirt was good though.

I though Raph's dress was bloody horrid. Why where they saying it was modern? Both the fabric and the dress itself were very old fashioned.

Did anyone else notice at the end that serena's blue checked pants matched Raph's shirt? Looked like they'd shared a pair of pyjamas.
