You really do have to suspend disbelief watching this one, I agree Blondeshavemorefun, it really doesn't make sense. But still my heart is hammering watching

Christian's love interest Bianca ( Izzy Knopler ) is Mark Knopler's ( of Dire Straits fame ) daughter.

I’m not even sure how he got undercover /into gangs
