Thought it was unnecessarily violent for the time of night really, and might have been better shown on a Monday or Friday when it's a bit later. We had to turn it right down because the shouting was upsetting the baby (who doesn't normally take any notice of the TV).

The birth drama was harrowing. Why can't people on soaps just have a normal delivery with a happy outcome for once?

I cried too - was very disturbing

loler - IIRC, a firm is an organised violence gang. You get them also at football matches etc too.

I was in tears too last night!! Not good at 38 weeks pg!!!

VictorianSqualor · 14/11/2007 12:04

A firm is a group of people that follow a particular football team and arrange meet-ups with other firms and beat the living crap out of each other.
If you've ever seen football factory, the different gangs in that are Firms.
If Jase was in prison for that it's likely he hurt someone badly and got arrested for GBH or something.

Thanks - feeling like my mum!

I agree notjustmom. I caught the beginning of the 10pm showing but turned over. I hate all the storylines that involve violence and people intimidating one another. It's the main reason I hardly ever watch it any more.

Well Fio, you would be totally understood for not realising, how on earth they claim to be football fans I have no idea!

VictorianSqualor · 14/11/2007 12:34

My DD was born after a placental abruption, and though I always knew what they ahd to do to her to get her breathing etc, it was bloody hard to see it on TV. (I was under GA when it happened)

Surfermum · 14/11/2007 12:35

I'm so glad I didn't see the end. Stuff like that haunts me for days.

Is this the wrong time to say... "it's not real"???

West Ham used to have 'The Intercity Firm' in the bad old days according to DH. And presumably Jase was a member of the Liverpool version - judging by the conversation with the other chap (whose name escapes me) in the hospital.

donnie · 14/11/2007 12:39

I saw this. It was very well acted and realistic but I agree that is was pretty shocking stuff for the prewatershed schedule. Very disturbing and upsetting - I agree it overstepped the mark.

On another note I have recently read that both Bianca and Ricky are making a comeback - is this true?

I think that a Firm nowadays describes a collective of morons who go around using violence etc to intimidate people. ( Thats the gist that I get from my Martina Cole novels).

Although Firm has also been used to described a collective of morons ( mainly men) who use violence etc at football matches for whatever reason, never really understood the point of smashing someones head in for the love of Stoke City F.C etc.

Now.... a brief sypnosis please, I missed it- how did honey go into labour? how is it linked to 'Jase'?

Piggy · 14/11/2007 12:47

How depressing. Rickaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Think I'll read a book instead.
