I've just watched last weeks episode again to try and get up to speed. When Steve goes to see Lee Banks in prison and Banks says the bit about 'ask your boss' about being told that John Corbett was a rat. In reply Steve says 'Supt Hastings?'. Banks doesn't actually say yes or no to that, just carries on talking. I've assumed all week that he did mean Hastings but now I'm thinking (hoping) that by boss he meant someone else i.e. Osborne and that line was just a red herring.

I know Osborne has been suggested before, I'm just trying to get my head around it and desperately hoping that Ted isn't bent.

It was Hastings. Link to an interview with Jed M posted above explains that he did it because he (stupidly) though it would cause John Corbett to run back to the police for protection. So that’s the ‘official’ reason.

I think Kate is just fine. Ryan injured but not dead hopefully so we’ll get an interrogation. But Ted better not die, I won’t stand for it. I love that man. He would so get it.

I'm not sure what to expect from tonight... more questions posed or starting to see some loose ends tied up? Either way. Excited!

So they just repeated the bit where Steve gets told that Hastings told the OCG about Corbett
He doesn't say that Hastings said he was a copper or that it was Corbett. Only that there was a rat and the rat turned out to be an undercover copper which was John. So maybe Hastings didn't deliberately cause him to be killed?
