diddl, absolutely, Ryan is a younger Dot. The shootout last episode does very much mirror the one with Dot. I don't think being a member of an OCG is conducive to long life!

AwkwardArnottDentonFumble · 23/04/2021 19:51

@iklboo

Okay. I think I've got it now.

Steve's waistcoats are H!! Always in plain sight, seemingly innocuous, always there when something dodgy happens.

W - AC IS TOAST (W being ACC Andrea Wise)

It was under our noses all along!!

🤣 genius
LeaveTheBentBastard · 23/04/2021 20:29

@xmb53

I've £5 on it being Carmichael shooting Pilkington.
That sounds quite plausible, if she is in the OCG she would want to silence him as he is a liability, plus she is a very efficient lady. Grin
Idontlikeshouting · 23/04/2021 20:45

Just doing my second rewatch. Totally overthinking but 3 things:

It's really strange how there's no blood anywhere near the 2 OCG members who got shot. Probably means nothing.

When Ted, Steve and Chloe were looking at the suspects in the Christopher case and Chloe then said she wasn't sure if it was relevant information but here are the officers involved with the case she would have definitely (definately!) known how important they were - one was Buckles who she interviewed and one is the top dog! Probably just bad script but seemed daft that she brought it up as an aside!

On second watch I think Carmichael is bent!!

TheLODstinkyunderpassAKATits · 23/04/2021 20:45

She'd have used few words and even fewer facial muscles in the process...

UrgentExit · 23/04/2021 21:10

@CheekyWeeShite

I think Kate did her exams on the quiet and Steve was surprised to find out, so she was ahead of him in the promotion stakes at that stage

Hana Reznikova offered prostitution on the side, she was a waitress and cleaner as well.

I might be wrong about the various balaclava men but it seems they're just contract killers and the one who serial killed prostitutes did that for himself rather than as a hired assassin.

Constantcrayfish · 23/04/2021 21:54

Steve tells Hastings he passed his exams some time ago when he first raised the issue of a promotion so he was ahead of Kate .

Buggerthebotox · 23/04/2021 22:50

I think if Ryan is shot, it's by an AFO as I think that's the modus operandi - two shots (I seem to recall a something from s3 about this). I suppose that Couid also mean Kate as she's an AFO. Mind you, so's Steve. Smile.

Lots of interesting theories on Shrine this week. I think there was one about Kate swapping ID with Akers but I may have been imagining that....

wingsnthat · 23/04/2021 23:28

How have 5 days passed by so quickly?? Can’t believe it’s only 2 sleeps until the next episode

TedisnotH · 24/04/2021 00:37

Yeah, two shots (double tapping) has been SOP for AFO, agents etc since WW2, if not earlier. See SOE history books re in WW2

Rewatching season 2. I've come to the conclusion that Tommy Hunter's still alive. Could I be right?

He came out of that house under a blanket and the assailants set him on fire so as to make him unrecognisable. They could easily have swapped him out.

I think he's the one at the other end of the laptops.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2021 09:26

There was no sign of him being swapped. And you see him in E6 asking what's going on when they turn left, just before the ambush.

Milkywaystars · 24/04/2021 09:28

Yes I think this too, Tommy Hunter will return in the next few episodes. We will also be treated to more Tedisms from our favourite gaffer on Tommy's return.
IamHyouweegobshite · 24/04/2021 09:35

Tommy hunter was in the car next to Akers, he lifts his blanket and questions the change of direction.

BentBastard · 24/04/2021 09:40

@IamHyouweegobshite

This. It was talked about in previous thread. We saw it was him moments before the car was hit. No way they swapped him without Denton seeing it happen.

Graffittiunderpass · 24/04/2021 09:43

Drat! My all encompassing theory has just collapsed!

CheekyWeeShite · 24/04/2021 09:45

I don’t see how Hunter could be alive unless there was an extra person in the car and he managed to get out the other side and make a run for it.

It would be a great way to get him out of custody and back running the operation, but I don’t see how they would have done it unless there was an additional person.

Denton definitely told AC-12 that Akers and Hunter were the only ones at the house, but I’d need to watch it again - we know the two officers Denton took with her died, was there another person who could have been in Hunter’s place?

Kate did do her exam in secret, but Ted told her he didn’t feel she was ready yet and Steve just had that bit more experience under his belt.

It could be relayed to the sexism Huntley brought up, but odd that it was never explained.

Yes, Hana was working as a prostitute on the side and I don’t think she did so for the OCG. No suggestion of that anyway.

None of it makes much sense in terms of the killings - it seems most likely the OCG were trying to cover for one of their own who has a thing for killing women and then Lakewell gave them someone to frame, but then why undo that by dumping body parts when the suspect is in custody?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/04/2021 09:51

There’s a R4 show about this (Obsessed with...Line of Duty). Must listen again as I haven’t a clue what’s going on.

CheekyWeeShite · 24/04/2021 10:12

Just watched the ambush at the start of S2.

There are definitely only 4 people on the car. Two police in the front, Akers and Hunter in the back. We know it’s Hunter due to the flashback later where he lifts the blanket off his head and talks to Akers.

I had forgotten this but the ambushers actually go to the car with guns - shoot the two in the front, then shoot into the back and you see Hunter get shot and go limp. Then they set the car on fire.

Pretty sure there’s no way Hunter would have been alive after that to even get out of the car and end up in a hospital, let alone the burns... but there’s no way they could reasonably claim Hunter is alive without rewriting history completely (although wouldn’t be the first time!)

sorryboss · 24/04/2021 10:23

There's a lot of talk about Hunter being the top dog in the OCG but that just isn't possible is it? He got immunity for information he gave them and into WP then killed, that doesn't happen if you're top dog.

CheekyWeeShite · 24/04/2021 10:34

Agreed. Lisa McQueen said he used to run their unit, so he definitely wasn’t the big boss.

Although it seems in LoD you can get immunity in exchange for zero useful information, so who knows. I mean, what did Gill give them? There’s been no investigation following intelligence from her.

BillGigolo · 24/04/2021 13:46

Hmm. Unless it was Tommy in the car but NOT Tommy in the hospital, doing a swap like they did with Carly’s body.

Sad to say I think Ted must be H because Gail Vella sounds a lot like fella.

CheekyWeeShite · 24/04/2021 14:11

There’s no way Ted can be H, for a lot of reasons. Especially now Lee Banks has said that Ted told him that Corbett was a rat which wouldn’t have been necessary if he was in with the OCG (nor would the illegal Fahrenheit order)

Milkywaystars · 24/04/2021 14:14

Lisa McQueen is still a bad 'un isn't she even though she's in WP & working with kids. At one point during series 5, I thought Lisa was deep, deep under cover as she appeared to be conflicted with certain decisions. You never know, she might make another appearance in series 6.
