The Circle USA series 2 (possible spoilers)

Tianatiers · 19/04/2021 10:51

Has anyone else watched the first batch of episodes of the new series of The Circle USA on Netflix yet? If you haven’t watched them all yet and would like to, don’t read on as I’m going to talk about it and possible spoilers...

I was definitely team Terilisha so I am glad that Savannah left but they both seemed equally determined that the other was in the wrong so I was getting a bit confused about what was going on there! I wished Bryant hadn’t left but then I’m not sure I wanted any of the other at risk players to go either. Catfishing as a celebrity is a great idea but she really messed up with the question about how he would spend the money if he won. And what is going on with the inner circle??

Can’t wait for more episodes on Wednesday. If anyone else is watching I’d love to hear your thoughts. I don’t know anyone in real life who is as into this show as me, my husband thinks I’m nuts! Where are my people?

I want Chloe to win. She's really grown on me after thinking she was quite annoying early on. I like River but I don't think Lee really deserves a pool! It's not the most wholesome of things to spend your winnings on.

Looking forward to the reveal when they see their true identities.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/05/2021 10:01

I’m so impatient! I’ve finished it already!

A few things to dissect later though.

For now: I think the reveal room worked better than the brief finale reactions from non finalists.

Savannah is a twat.

Lance Bass lady is still as dull as dishwater and Emily clearly board of her too.

I miss the dinner when you see them talk naturally about everything that happened but I fear that won’t be back post Covid despite the table being laid. I hope the viewers favourite vote can come back soon too abs they don’t prefer the pre filmed element for story selection.

MiddleClassProblem · 05/05/2021 10:03

I also miss that you don’t get so many photos and the following players analysis when they get to post new pics.

jay55 · 05/05/2021 15:12

I could totally see Chloe, Lee, Courtney and Delisha doing a loose women type chatty show.
They gelled so well in the final dinner.

bitheby · 05/05/2021 21:01

Anyone watched it yet?!

swiggles · 05/05/2021 22:26

Yes me! Happy with winner here, rooting for them the whole way (obvs don't want to ruin it for anyone else)
Feel like the series was too short, perhaps that's why the game playing started so quickly! And speaking of that... Savannah came across terribly in the last show, dislike her a lot now!

thelostufos · 06/05/2021 00:11

@swiggles it definitely feels like it ended too soon. I'm soo happy for the winner, I too was rooting for them.

I love the show so much I thought I'll watch the UK version but it's nothing like the US version. No excitement just boring.

Tianatiers · 06/05/2021 07:51

I've watched and I'm happy with the winner. I would have been happy with either of the final two to win. I couldn't help but see the parallels to the most recent UK series (with the final two) and how differently the contestants reacted and responded. It was basically the same situation but you couldn't sense any bad feeling at all. I hope that's not too spoilerey but to be honest it does say possible spoilers in the title of this thread and I was keeping away until I was all caught up so hopefully others will too!

I thought this was a nice series. For me it started off at quite a pace though and then seemed to fizzle out towards the end. I don't know if it was the fact of having to wait a week for the final but I wasn't in any great rush to watch it and find out who won like I was with the uk series. In fact I'm not sure I would have even remembered to watch the final episode unless a reminder came up on my Netflix. It had gone out of my mind. The thing was they were nice people in this series, with the exception of Savannah of course. They managed to weed out the villain of the series pretty early because she wasn't as sneaky as Manrika, which I guess made it not so compelling to watch.

I loved the U.K. (and original) version. You should remember when watching a series one and two that it was broadcast like big brother/love island, they didn’t know which stories would in fold and it showed a lot more as a result with most eps representing 24hrs. Both USA versions were filmed, edited then released. Less episodes and chosen storylines.

I thought the parallel was interesting too. However I do think Manrika was in much deeper than Chloe plus no labels like Cirvle Boyfriend etc. Plus we have seen how Chloe deals with romantic setbacks and saw she wanted to flirt with Mitchell so less all in, iyswim.

jay55 · 06/05/2021 11:07

I hope Chloe and Mitchell managed to have a date before he flew back to the US.

Savannah was awful and siding with her really scuppered Courtney's chances.

What we've learnt from the last 2 series, men if you're after a woman, treat her as if you're a woman pretending to be a man GrinGrinGrin

It did fizzle out somewhat. All the mouthy women getting blocked, the chaps being a bit passive. Meant the second half wasn't as strong.

Tianatiers · 06/05/2021 11:32

Is Savannah had been a little more subtle in her nastiness can you imagine how awful her and Courtney would have been as a duo.

Tianatiers · 06/05/2021 11:33

If, not is

I wanted Chloe to win but 'Trevor' probably needed the money more and Chloe might get more reality TV work out of it so is a winner anyway.

I still don't really understand the Savannah/ Teralisha thing and see them both as bad as each other.

Tianatiers · 06/05/2021 12:52

It's a while ago now but as I remenber it, Savannah and Terilisha were influencers and in their influencer chat Savannah didn't want to get rid of Chloe because it would make her look bad or Courtney because they had bonded. Terilisha didn't want to get rid of River, Bryant or Chloe but Savannah wouldn't budge on Courtney and managed to convince Terilisha that they should block Bryant.

After Bryant's lovely leaving video was shown, Savannah said in the group chat that she was heartbroken and insinuated that it hadn't been her decision to block Bryant. Terilisha felt this was disingenuous, wasn't having any of it and told everyone that she fought really hard to keep Bryant and didn't want to see him go. This got Savannah's back up as she felt she was being thrown under the bus. I can sort of see it from both points of view. Savannah shouldn't have been disingenuous but it's a shame Terilisha rose to it and openly pointed it out to everyone thus unleashing Savannah's wrath.

That's the way I saw it, that's my truth anyway Grin Savannah would say "whatever", hair flick and turn away from me at this point and sip her champagne though.

MiddleClassProblem · 06/05/2021 13:36

Also before that the girls in a group chat agreed to have each other’s backs so before they decided who to block Savannah and Terilisha were allowed to save one player each. Terilisha saved Emily but Savannah saved Trevor rather than Chloe so Terilisha already thought that was shady going into the blocking chat.

MayIDestroyYou · 06/05/2021 13:40

Well. The right person won, for once! Very pleased with that result. Pleased with all the final placings, in fact.

It's true this wasn't the most exciting series. Apart from the two fighty women at the start of the series the rest were all (despite loudness) really quite bland people - none of the rough edges or desperation of the U.K. series. Which did make it less satisfying to watch.

Hope the next one (?) will be less glossy.

Tianatiers · 06/05/2021 16:18

I would like to know how they all rated in the final ratings, does anyone know how you can find out?

OP posts:
MiddleClassProblem · 06/05/2021 16:33

Yes, I thought it was interesting that they told you in the U.K. one and not in the American one. I wonder if we are just more suspicious on it being rigged 😂

jay55 · 06/05/2021 17:57

Hope they do post the final rankings. Trevor got first place from Chloe and John which might have been enough to win.

bitheby · 06/05/2021 18:49

Terilisha just can't let it go though. Savannah's immaturity is that she can't rise above it when she gets repeatedly needled.

It would be so easy to say for both of them that someone had to go and shame it was him because he turned out to be a nice go but Terilisha used it as an opportunity to create drama and they both ran with it. Whole thing was completely unnecessary and they both ramped it up. I don't make one the good guy and one the bad guy.

bitheby · 06/05/2021 18:50

*guy

Tianatiers · 07/05/2021 09:30

That's interesting @bitheby after watching that I can see they are both as bad as each other. Both very strong women who will not back down and apologise but it looks like they seem to have agreed to disagree at least.

Apparently channel 4 have cancelled the UK version.

bitheby · 07/05/2021 23:46

@jay55

Apparently channel 4 have cancelled the UK version.

That's a shame. I would've watched a new series. Are they selling the flats?!

MiddleClassProblem · 08/05/2021 00:21

They are in discussions with Netflix
