I’d heard of it, but never watched it when it was on - I blame job with long hours that meant I missed loads of stuff!

Having started a few months ago, this week I’ve finished the final season. Am gutted I’m done now, but going to watch the film El Camino and then give Better Call Saul a go.

So if, like me, you’re way behind on popular stuff, I’d highly recommend it. It’s a bit weird from the outset, but stick with it, I blooming loved it!

Also, I knew I was “behind” on the trend, but was slightly surprised that the final season was 2013 - none of it felt dated to me at all.

We watched Breaking Bad late as well, although I think we caught up with the very last series.

It is one of my top 3 series ever.

The other 2, if you haven’t seen are “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” and “The Leftovers”.

I so so so recommend The Leftovers - esp now after/during a pandemic, the acting and the story are so good - as is the music.

With a good series you need ‘grieving time’ when it ends. It feels like you can’t find anything good to watch and like nothing else will ever come to this quality.
With Leftovers I needed 6 months of directing time. And I’m still looking for a good series now

We were late to it as well and only finished it recently - Better Call Saul is just as good if not even better once you you past the first couple of episodes - we found it seemed to start a bit slow.

We're a bit lost for what to watch now as nothing seems as good!

I was late to the party with this too and the only thing that topped it for me (which I was also late to the party with) was sons of anarchy

We were late too, but bloody loved it. I thought the ending was perfect too. Especially the blue glow.

magicstar1 · 11/04/2021 23:35

We started it a couple of weeks ago and are on season 4. Loving it!

theluckiest · 11/04/2021 23:56

We are late to the party for everything!!

Line of Duty
Game of Thrones
Schitts Creek
Unforgettable
The Wire

And Breaking Bad.
But we get there in the end...Grin

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, so very good.
The only other thing I've found that comes close and made me feel the same way 😂 is Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime. Only 3 series of it but it's wonderful!

jay55 · 12/04/2021 08:42

I loved Breaking bad but didn't get in to Better call Saul, does it improve after the first couple of episodes?

ErleighBird · 12/04/2021 08:47

I liked Breaking Bad but actually prefer Better Call Saul, found it a real grower.

Duckdown · 12/04/2021 08:48

@jay55 yes, it is worth giving it another go. It's quite slow in the beginning - it develops a lot of characters and relationships. But the acting is sublime and then there are "aha" moments when familiar characters reappear! I recommend it - it is worth it. Bob Odenkirk is such a great actor.

We recently rewatched Breaking Bad, so good! Better Call Saul is very unusual but very good. I’ve just recently started Greys anatomy, only 15 years behind on that one Grin

Furries · 12/04/2021 09:59

Glad to see I’m not the only one who is always late to the party 😂.

Over the weekend I watched El Camino which I really enjoyed - was great to follow up/find out more re what happened to Pinkman.

I also watched the first 2 episodes of Better Call Saul. I was sceptical as I couldn’t think how it could match BB. Ended up gripped from the first episode. Can see it’s building up character backgrounds etc, but really looking forward to seeing where it goes. As @Duckdown says, the “aha” moments were a nice surprise!

We’ve just started Breaking Bad after a recommendation from our son and we’re on episode 5 or 6 of series 1. What a brilliant storyline and we love the occasional humour. Can’t beat a good box set in this bloody monotonous lockdown and cold weather. We’re retired so, April 12th or not, it will take us a while to re-establish some kind of structure to the day and the guilty pleasure of a boxset whiles the time away.
